Weaving together jazz and Pan-American folkloric traditions with influences from European classical music on his most recent project, Panama 500, Pérez's blend of inspirations makes him the ideal musical chronicler of his country's history and vibrant indigenous culture. Today, after more than a decade of travelling the U.S. and the world, and recording three acclaimed albums, Grace, Sophia and Hulda Quebe are continuing the tradition of old-time fiddle and country music while bringing a fresh perspective to the genre.
