Insight Theatre Company Presents MAN OF LA MANCHA, 8/11-22

By:

Insight Theatre Company is proud to announce the upcoming production of the Tony Award winning musical, Man of La Mancha by Mitch Leigh, Joe Darion, and Dale Wasserman. Starring the legendary Joneal Joplin under the direction of Edward Coffield, Man of La Mancha opens Wednesday, August 11 at The Heagney Theater on the campus of Nerinx Hall, 530 East Lockwood in Webster Groves. The show runs through August 22 with performances Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and matinees each Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $20 and $30 with discounts available for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.insighttheatrecompany.com or by phone at 314.239.9040.

Man of La Mancha is based on the seventeenth century novel, I, Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes, in which the hero awaits his trial before the Spanish Inquisition. Confined to prison, Quixote recounts a life of valor before his fellow inmates who view him as nothing but an absurd, old storyteller. While the play-within-a-play has many themes, chief among them is the question of whether it's crazy to see only the good in others.

Edward Coffield directs a cast that includes Joneal Joplin as Quixote, Julie O'Neill as Aldonza, Christopher Hickey as Sancho Panza, and Laura Ernst as Antonia, with Musical Direction by Ross Bell, Choreography by Michael Baxter, Set Design by Caitly Ayer, Lighting Design by Kaitlyn Breen, and Costumes by Laura Hanson.
