The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) will kick off its 50th anniversary season with an all-star cast performing in Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece Follies. Directed by Rob Ruggiero, this brilliant and innovative musical runs September 7 - October 2 on the Browning Mainstage of the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts.
Leading the cast are Broadway standouts Emily Skinner (as Phyllis), Bradley Dean (Ben), Christiane Noll (Sally) and Adam Heller (Buddy). The supporting cast includes Broadway performers Nancy Opel (Carlotta) and Dorothy Stanley (Emily), as well as Chicago theatre luminary E. Faye Butler (Stella). St. Louis' local theatre stars will also be well-represented in the cast. Joneal Joplin (Weismann), Zoe Vonder Haar (Hattie) and Ron Himes (Max) are among the area performers taking part in this landmark production of Follies. The cast includes three Tony nominees: Skinner (for Side Show), Noll (for Ragtime) and Opel (for Urinetown). "We have assembled an extraordinary cast of actors which include Tony nominees, Broadway vets, top-notch local talent and exciting young performers," Ruggiero said. "I couldn't be more excited to be helming this production of Follies, which opens The Rep's 50th season." "This is just a brilliant way to launch our 50th season," said Steven Woolf, The Rep's Artistic Director. "With a thrilling cast and impressive creative team, this will be a very special production of this amazing show."
