The Sleeping Beauty , by P. I. Tchaikovsky, is the story of Princess Aurora who was sentenced to die for the evil Carabosse . The Fairy Lilak softened the curse and the girl fell asleep for a hundred years in the enchanted castle, until he was awakened by a kiss from a handsome prince. The numbers of the ballet are an apotheosis of harmony , love and beauty.

Sleeping Beauty is a ballet in a prologue and three acts. With choreography by Marius Petipa , libretto by Ivan A. Vsevolojsky and same Petipa and music by Piotr I. Tchaikovsky, premiered at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg on January 3, 1890 .

Ivan Vsevolojsky , CEO of the Imperial Theatres chose tale story of Charles Perrault , and commissioned Tchaikovsky score , asking a series of melodies in the style of Lully, Bach and Rameau and a group of characters taken from other tales of Perrault . Tchaikovsky faced their work with enthusiasm and even seemed to faithfully follow the orders of the director and the detailed instructions Petipa actually created a work with its own values ??and a musical entity of a dimension hitherto unknown in the ballet.
