UofSC Lab Theatre to Present STOP KISS, 10/8-11
By: Tyler Peterson
The UofSC Department of Theatre and Dance will present the provocative drama Stop Kiss, October 8-11, 2015 at the Lab Theatre.
Show times for Stop Kiss are 8pm nightly. Tickets are $5 and available only at the door. The Lab Theatre is located at 1400 Wheat St., on the first floor of the Booker T. Washington building. Stop Kiss contains adult language and content which is not suitable for children.Diana Son's Obie and GLAAD award-winning story is at one moment funny and tender, and, in the next, jarringly visceral. Sara, an elementary school teacher who has just moved to NYC, befriends the street-smart Callie, and their fast friendship soon evolves into deeper feelings. The complicated course of their growing closeness leads to a fateful kiss, which provokes a brutal assault that will change their lives forever. Son's innovative script fractures the story's timeline, giving the audience glimpses of growing attraction in one scene, and the devastating effects of a hate crime in the next. "Something as thought-provoking and ultimately moving as Stop Kiss is a joy to experience." - Star Ledger.
