Be sure to catch the fourth installment of our 2010 New Play Festival this evening, Thursday, October 21st: Identity Crisis by Peter Snoad. Festival admission is free and open to the public. Tonight's reading will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by an in-depth discussion of the work (audience feedback is encouraged after each reading), led by festival chairman, Dr. Brian Haimbach and playwright-in-residence, Deborah Brevoort.

Identity Crisis examines the delicate and often controversial subject of race. It's an unpublicized phenomenon that's sweeping the country: White people are turning Black. On the night before his wedding, Alan Guthrie learns that it's about to happen to him. And he's freaked. Aside from the personal implications, Alan believes his prospective father-in-law is racist and would never allow his daughter Marcia to marry a Black man. His whole future with his beloved Marcia is now in jeopardy. What can he possibly do? Alan hatches a daring plan that unwittingly launches him and his co-conspirators on a madcap journey involving golf, organic vegetables, a wheelchair and, well, some serious identity issues...

Please note, Identity Crisis is for mature audiences only.

Identity Crisis is directed by Peter Saputo, and its cast includes Chris Cashon, Jeremiah Dew, Teresa McClernon, Clark Nesbitt and Deb Warren.

Peter Snoad is delighted to be working again with Centre Stage, which premiered his play, Guided Tour, in 2007, after it won the 2006 New Play Festival. Guided Tour was also honored with two national play awards, the Stanley Drama Award and the Arthur W. Stone Playwriting Award. Mr. Snoad's plays have been produced throughout the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Singapore and Australia.
