Edge Theater Company To Hold Auditions For THE SHADOW BOX 4/24, 4/25

The Edge Theatre Company will hold auditions for The Shadow Box by Michael Kristofer on April 24, 2010 at 2:00 PM and on April 25 at 5:00 PM at South Pointe High School. Those auditioning should prepare a contemporary monologue and be prepared to read from the script. Please provide a headshot and resume if available. Please come with all known conflicts at the time of the audition. This production will be directed by Russell Luke. Performance dates are June 10-13, 2010.

Play Synopsis:
In this award-winning dramatic triptych, three terminal cancer patients dwell in separate cottages on a hospital grounds. The three are attended and visited by family and close friends: Agnes and her mother Felicity, estranged further by the latter's dementia; Brian and Beverly whose martial complications are exacerbated by Brian's new lover, Mark; and Joe and Maggie, unready for the strain of Joe's impending death and it's effect on their teenage son.

Character breakdown:
Roles are available for men and women of all ages and races.

Interviewer--this can be either male or female and need to be "mature"

Male roles:
Joe - 30's -40's
Steve--Joe's teenage son/hip--with attitude
Brian--30's-40's --after several years now openly gay
Mark--20's Brian's lover/partner

Female roles:
Maggie--30's Joe's wife/having difficult time accepting his cancer
Beverly--30's Brian ex-wife,becoming a drunk,while accepting Brian & Mark's relationship still has problems with it.
Agnes--late 20's-30's spinster (lived with her mother--love/hate relationship)
Felicity--ideal in 60's/70's Agnes' mother
