Auditions Held for Glorious! at ECP 8/18-21, 8/25-28
Written by Peter Quilter directed by Daniel Pasker, Glorious! is the story of the joyful Florence Foster Jenkins, who had a passion for singing, but a voice of disastrous proportions which left audiences crying with laughter. Spinning from her bizarre recording sessions, unbelievable recitals and an ultimate triumph at New York's Carnegie Hall - this is a true, heart-warming story about a group of eccentric friends who lived their dreams. The triumphant West End production starred Maureen Lipman and was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award as Best New Comedy. The available roles include, Florence Foster Jenkins, an Eccentric American Lady in her 40s - 60s, who needs to be an accomplished singer. Cosme McMoon, in his early 30s, an excellent pianist. St. Clair, Florence's English boyfriend, in his 40s - 60s, who is frazzled, overweight and bursting at the seams with loud theatricality. Dorothy, Florence's friend in her 40s - 60s. Florence is ditsy. Maria, Florence and St. Clair's Mexican cook and housemaid, speaks Spanish and is very sarcastic. Mrs. Verrinder-Gedge, a middle-aged American, bullish and feisty.
ECP asks that anyone interested in auditioning needs to bring a theatre resume and a non-returnable photo (a photocopy is OK) of yourself along with a list of any dates that would conflict with summer rehearsals. If you don't have a resume or photo, a sheet will be available for you to fill out where you get to the theatre. No roles are precast, auditions are open to everyone and scripts will be provided at the audition. The first read through will be held on Thursday, June 9th at 7pm. A summer rehearsal schedule will be worked out that evening. Glorious! will run from August 18-21 and August 25-28.
