Revised Civic Theatre and Indy Humane Partner for ANNIE

By:

Revised Civic Theatre and Indy Humane Partner for ANNIE ImageBooth Tarkington Civic Theatre is proud to partner with IndyHumane during its production of ANNIE. The Humane Society has provided a foster dog to play Sandy, and the response is already overwhelming.

Civic's Executive Artistic Director, Michael J. Lasley said, "As my family has always adopted rescue animals, I've been looking for the perfect opportunity for a partnership that would raise awareness about what an incredible addition rescues can be to your life. I'm so excited to be working with IndyHumane and hope to help as many animals as possible find their forever homes."

CEO of The Humane Society of Indianapolis, Steven Stolen said, "IndyHumane is delighted to be partnering with Civic Theatre, and we're looking forward to seeing one of our shelter dogs take the stage alongside the talented actors and actresses who are bringing ANNIE to life. As the recognized leader in the animal welfare sector, we welcome ways to connect uniquely to our community and to remind audiences that we all share a love for animals. Making one of our dogs a "star" reminds each of us to give shelter dogs and cats another chance and a time to shine - not just on stage, but in the homes of people all over Central Indiana who wish to care about and for them."

IndyHumane will be on-site at Civic Theatre with The Pet Adoption Wagon (PAW) during the performance run of ANNIE, October 12-28.

Theatre-goers will have a chance to meet adoptable pets the following dates:

  • Thursday, October 12, 5:30-7PM
  • Sunday, October 15, 1-5PM
  • Sunday, October 22, 1-5PM

ANNIE Director, Anne Beck said, "Partnering with IndyHumane has already been an amazing experience. Volunteering to foster our Sandy felt incredible as her tail wagged hopping into our car. The facilities at IndyHumane are impeccable and the staff equally awesome, but seeing our Sandy settle into a quiet home, get endless love and hugs, and let out huge cozy sighs as she nestles into a nice new, warm, fluffy bed, assured us she was so happy to be in a home. It is a great reminder and hope that she, and this partnership can help her shelter buddies find foster homes and eventually forever homes."

ANNIE opens Civic's 103rd season on Thursday, October 12, 2017 with Putting it Together, a fundraiser to benefit Civic Theatre, and runs through October 28th. For tickets, and more information about Civic Theatre, visit www.civictheatre.org.
