B.B. King Returns to Morris Performing Arts Center Tonight

The legendary "King of The Blues" and beloved American icon B.B. King returns to the historic Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend, Indiana, tonight, October 6, performance at 7:30 p.m. Born on a cotton plantation in rural Mississippi in September of 1925, B.B. King will be 88 years old when he returns to the Morris with his trusty guitar "Lucille."

Riley B. King hitchhiked north to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1947 with his guitar and $2.50 and started recording in the late 1940's. In his 64 year touring career, B.B. King has performed an astounding 15,000 plus concerts around the world. He has released over 60 albums, many considered to be Blues classics, such as 1965's "Live At The Regal," and 1976's collaboration with Bobby "Blue" Bland, "Together For The First Time." B.B. has toured with or recorded with The Rolling Stones, U2, Eric Clapton, Albert King, Frank Sinatra and Stevie Ray Vaughan. BB has been cited as a major influence on Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton and Duane Allman. He was awarded 15 Grammy Awards, a Grammy "Lifetime Achievement Award," and many other awards, and has been inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. B.B. was named # 6 in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of Top 100 all time guitar players.

His classic songs include "The Thrill Is Gone," "Paying The Cost To Be The Boss," "Why I Sing The Blues," "Rock Me Baby," "Caldonia," "How Blue Can You Get," "Everyday I Have the Blues," "Why Sing the Blues," and the duet with U2 "When Love Comes To Town."
