On the 30 August 2017, Cape Town's prestigious Artscape theatre will host the Vadhini Indian Arts Academy for their newest dance production titled Sundari - The Beauty of Dance.

Vadhini celebrates over 35 years as an Indian dance institution in Cape Town and has a longstanding history of maintaining excellence in dance education and performance.

This year is no exception as they collaborate with international choreographer Ketan Nagar to present a dance spectacle showcasing the Vadhini family in its entirety - from the youngest professionally trained students to the most experienced graduates and future pioneers of Indian dance development in South Africa.

Sundari, meaning beautiful, is a melting pot of the best of everything, from the intricate and refined techniques of classical Indian dance to the vibrant and energetic music and costuming of Bollywood. This dance extravaganza celebrates the expansion and evolution of Indian performing arts from its roots in ancient India to its global presence in the 21 Century. It truly has been about shedding a new light on the versatility of Indian art forms, showcasing Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Folk and Bollywood dance in a technical yet creative manner without stripping it of its beauty.

Along with the excellent team of lighting and set designers from the Artscape theatre, and the support and involvement of the Consulate General of India in Cape Town and their Outreach partners, the Amy foundation, this production is geared towards being an event not to be missed.

Tickets (R120 per person) are available at Box Office, Artscape Dial-a-Seat (021 421 7839) and Computicket Outlets.
