The classic Alan Menken and Howard Ashman musical, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, will open for a season at Theatre on the Bay in 2015. Directed by Steven Stead and designed by Greg King, the show begins performance in April for a six-week season at the Camps Bay theatre venue.

Seymour Krelborn works and lives in a rundown flower shop on Skid Row. While his boss, Gravis Mushnick, struggles to keep the shop open, Seymour seeks a way of bringing the shop - and himself - fame and fortune. He purchases an exotic plant from an oriental street vendor, naming the plant Audrey II, after the girl he loves. The plant proves good for business, attracting more customers to the store, but gradually Seymour learns to his horror that Audrey II craves more than pot-ash, and Seymour must scare up human food to satisfy the plant's appetite. LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS features a catchy score that includes the unforgettable songs "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", "Dentist", "Feed Me!" and "Suddenly, Seymour".

From its Off-Off-Broadway premiere in 1982 and its move to the Orpheum Theatre Off-Broadway, where it played for more than five years, and its subsequent international success, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS has written itself into the musical theatre history books, taking its place alongside other cult musicals like THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and SWEENEY TODD. The show proved so popular that in 1986 it was made into a film, directed by Frank Oz. The film made Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene household names and gave the world of celluloid the maddest, baddest dentist ever, in the form of off-the-wall Steve Martin. The influence of the showcan be seen in other off-beat musical hits like HAIRSPRAY, URINETOWN and BAT BOY.

Starring Alan Committie as Seymour Krelborn, Candice van Litsenborgh as Audrey and Michael Richard as Mr Mushnick, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS runs from 24 April - 6 June on Mondays to Fridays at 8pm and Saturdays at 4.30pm and 8pm. There will be no performance on Monday 27 April and only at 8pm show on 18 April. Bookings are through Computicket.
