Six Teenagers Vie For Top Music Prize One of SA's prime music competitions, the National Youth Music Competition, with cash prizes totalling more than R145 000, starts Tuesday 9 October 2018 at the Hugo Lambrechts Auditorium in Parow, Cape Town.

Nineteen rising stars from across the country, between the ages of 14 and 19 years, vie for top honours during the week-long contest.

It is the only competition in South Africa where the six finalists* are afforded the privilege to compete against each other to the accompaniment of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) at a gala concert.
