Maurice Paige and Theodore Jantjies
in PLATFORM 9

Cape Town theatre lovers are in for a treat this festive season when Maurice Paige and Theodore Jantjies, return to the stage to entertain audiences in PLATFORM 9 TO PARK STATION, the sequel to the popular PLATFORM 9 production at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio this festive season.

Theo, a chef, has been invited to cook at a celebrity's wedding that will be covered by Top Billing and his best friend, Mau, an aspiring rapper, agrees to help him get there if he can perform. After eventually embarking onto the train on PLATFORM 9 at Cape Town Station, the two friends are en route to Park Station, Johannesburg where they meet a variety of unique characters travelling to somewhere in our country.

Will the two eventually make it to Johannesburg with all the obstacles they have to face on the train? Will Maurice find his way back to Theo after the train has left him behind in Colesberg? Sadness and tears, happiness and laughter combined with a couple of familiar characters accompany the audience from PLATFORM 9 TO PARK STATION.

Written and directed by Christo Davids, the hilarious two-hander, performed in Afrikaans with some English, has sold out theatres throughout the country. This collaboration realises a lifelong dream of working together for the three award-winning soapie stars who grew up on the same street in Heidelberg, proving that their talents are as diverse as the characters they portray.

As the Artistic Director for Cape Heart Theatre Company, Davids has also affirmed himself as an accomplished writer and director with credits such as BULLETS OVER BISHOP LAVIS, which was nominated for Best New South African Script at the Kyknet Fiestas Awards), SHIRLEY GOODNESS AND MERCY and WOMAN ALONE. He is most well-known for playing Errol on 7DE LAAN, for which he has won the You Spectacular and Tempo Awards for Best Actor, having also won the Best Actor award at the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival for MY NAME IS ELLEN PAKKIES.

Jantjies (who plays Xander on 7DE LAAN) and Paige (who plays Calvin in ISIDINGO) both graduated from Northlink College with Diplomas in Performing Arts. Jantjies received the Kyknet Fiestas Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance in VASELINETJIE and the Huisgenoot Tempo Award for Best Soap Actor as Xander in 2014, while Paige received the You Spectacular Best Newcomer and People's Choice Awards for his role as Calvin in ISIDINGO. Both actors were listed in the Top 10 SA's Sexiest Men competition.

PLATFORM 9 TO PARK STATION runs from 14 December 2015 to 16 January 2016 at the Baxter Theatre's Golden Arrow Studio at 20:15 nightly. Tickets, costing R110 for regular performances and R180 for the New Year's Eve performance, including a party in the foyer at the Baxter Theatre after the show, are available at Computicket or at any Shoprite/Checkers outlet.
