MOTHER CITY SKETCH presents original comedy skits performed live by members of The Long Shots theatre troupe alongside special guests from the Cape Town comedy scene. This collection of short sketches pokes fun at over-the-top Valentine's Day presents, wine pairing courses, ugly newborns and more. Written and directed by Robin Hitchcock, with additional material by Mark Sykes, the 60-minute show promises to make audiences laugh "until your cheeks hurt - but it will be worth it.

Writer and director Robin Hitchcock began producing sketch comedy in 2011 with the all-female troupe Frankly Scarlett, based in Pittsburgh USA. Since moving to Cape Town, Hitchcock has been affiliated with The Long Shots improvisational comedy troupe and Improv Cape Town. MOTHER CITY SKETCH marks the South African debut of her written comedy material. The Long Shots, who comprise the core cast of the show, have been performing improvised comedy in Cape Town since 2011, and are thrilled to branch out into pre-scripted material with MOTHER CITY SKETCH.

MOTHER CITY SKETCH will be performed for one night only on 13 February at 7pm. Tickets cost R80-R90 and can be booked securely online with a credit card via the Alexander Bar website as well as at the bar itself during its regular opening hours from 11am - 1am on Mondays through Saturdays. Telephone bookings and enquiries can be made on 021 300 1652. Alexander Bar & Café is situated at 76 Strand Street in Cape Town.
