Godfrey Johnson and Nicholas McDiarmid

Godfrey Johnson and Nicholas McDiarmid will play the Alexander Upstairs in a cabaret compiled by themselves this June. The shameless duo who brazenly made lemonade out of Drumpf and charmed audiences into the Alexander Bar with their show, THIS IS NOT AMERICA, in January are back by popular demand with their ever-evolving comedy, songs, wit and charm.

Johnson, one of South Africa's leading cabaret performers, has just returned from stormy Johannesburg after a stunningly received two-week run of the run of his critically acclaimed VASLAV at the Auto & General Theatre on Square. He is joined by McDiarmid, a pianist and writer, to shower Cape Town with more songs, satire and more of their dazzling piano duets.

The cabaret will include songs by Tori Amos, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Jacques Brel and their own compositions, as well as more of their singular piano acrobatics with exciting music for four hands. The show will include duets by Francis Poulenc and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Lurking in the shadows are the usual caricatures and characters, all begging to see the light.

Johnson and McDiarmid will play the Alexander Upstairs from 26 - 28 June at 21:00 nightly. Tickets are available from the Alexander Bar website, with seats costing R100 if booked and prepaid online or R110 if paid on collection at the bar. For telephone enquiries, call 021 300 1652. The Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
