Fugard Theatre Announces the Cast of CABARET

"There was a Cabaret, and there was a master of ceremonies and there was a city called Berlin in a country called Germany. It was the end of the world... and I was dancing with Sally Bowles and we were both fast asleep..."

The stellar cast for CABARET, John Kander, Fred Ebb and Joe Masteroff's scintillating Tony award-winning musical, has been announced.

In the principal roles, Charl-Johan Lingenfelder (musical director for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, SUNSET BOULEVARD, EMOTIONAL CREATURE) plays the Emcee, Claire Taylor (THE SOUND OF MUSIC, CINDERELLA) is Sally Bowles, Daniel Buys (JERSEY BOYS, GREASE) is Clifford Bradshaw, Mike Huff (THE SOUND OF MUSIC, SUNSET BOULEVARD) is Herr Schultz, Michele Maxwell (SCANDAL, ISIDINGO) is Fraulein Schneider, Shannyn Fourie (SHOW BOAT, EDGES) is Fraulein Kost and Ludwig Binge (BALBESIT, SAMSA-MASJIEN) plays Ernst Ludwig.

The talented ensemble cast includes Matthew Berry (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, WEST SIDE STORY), Sven-Eric Müller (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, PRIVATE PRESLEY), Michael Wallace (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, SHOW BOAT), Lara Lipschitz (JERSEY BOYS, EMOTIONAL CREATURE), Jenna Robinson Child (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, GREASE), Delray Burns (SHOW BOAT), Kyle Jardine (THE SOUND OF MUSIC) and Chloe Perling (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, WEST SIDE STORY).

Cabaret is produced by Eric Abraham and the Fugard Theatre who brought audiences the smash hit musical THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW. As director, Matthew Wild (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, IL VIAGGIO A REIMS, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS) heads the outstanding creative team, with Louisa Talbot (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, resident choreographer for HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL) as choreographer, Charl-Johan Lingenfelder (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, SUNSET BOULEVARD, EMOTIONAL CREATURE) as musical supervisor, Daniel Galloway (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, KAT AND THE KINGS, THE KRAMER & PETERSEN SONGBOOK) and Ben du Plessis (Associate Lighting Designer for THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, "MASTER HAROLD"... AND THE BOYS) on lighting design, Tina Driedijk (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, THE RAKE'S PROGRESS, COSI FAN TUTTI) will do the set design, Penny Simpson (THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW, SUNSET BOULEVARD, EVITA) is the costume designer and Mark Malherbe (SUNSET BOULEVARD, CHICAGO) is the sound designer.

The Fugard Theatre looks forward to welcoming audience members to the infamous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and the raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalise the crowd and to entice them to leave their troubles outside. But as the life of pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain, will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through the dangerous times? It's all about following your heart while the world loses its way. Some of the most memorable songs in musical theatre history are in this sinister and sexy production, including "Cabaret", "Wilkommen" and "Tomorrow Belongs To Me".

The production opens at the Fugard Theatre on the 10th March 2015 with tickets costing from R100 to R230 via the Fugard Theatre box office on 021 461 4554 and Computicket. Early bird specials are now availabl, with premium priced tickets being radically reduced for the first two weeks of the scheduled run (10 - 17 March 2015) and only available through the Fugard box office on 021 461 4554.
