Day 2 - London Layover

Yesterday while we were checking in at JFK, we ran into photographer Bruce Glikas, who was booked on our same flight to London for the opening night of Legally Blonde.  When we got to London at 6:20 this morning, the six of us on this flight--Adam, Lilli, Courtney, Paris, Bruce, and me--took a cab into the city since our connection didn't leave until 6pm.  (Luckily, our luggage went straight through to Joburg so except for our carry-ons and Paris' camera equipment, we didn't have to worry about dragging our bags around all day.)  We were dying for a big, hot English breakfast so we went to Garfunkel's in Leichester Square.  Lilli's friend Lauren Pritchard from Spring Awakening has been living in London for the past year and a half so we called her from the cab and she met us at Garfunkel's.

After breakfast, Adam, Lilli, Lauren and I walked around the corner and did a speed thru of the National Gallery.  We had all spent time in London before so we had seen the major touristy sights but we wanted to go to the Tate Modern so we walked across the bridge and spent a couple of hours there.  Swung by The Globe Theatre and then hopped back in a cab and were back at the Virgin Atlantic terminal at Heathrow, as if we had never left.

Meanwhile, Tracy, Lisa, Frankie, and Chris had a layover in Paris.  I'm assuming they saw pretty Monets and ate crusty bread.  We'll find out when we meet up with them in Joburg in the morning.

Took a minute to check our email and got one from Pieter Toerin, the South Africa producer who donated his Montecasino Theatre in Johannesburg for our benefit concert on the 18th: "People called in immediately and you are SOLD OUT. Do you want to do a second night?" So for those of you who tried to order tickets online and couldn't, stay tuned.  Looking to see if there is a way we can add a few more seats or a second show.

Next time I write, we'll be in South Africa!
