Artscape Presents January Events Including MYTH OF ANDREW AND JO, Closes 1/9

With two of the successful holiday season performances at Cape Town's Artscape Theatre Centre ending this week, Artscape ventures to the outdoors with its annual summer Shakespeare production at the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre. Artscape wishes all its patrons a prosperous new year.

THE MYTH OF ANDREW AND JO - December 16, 2010 to January 9, 2011(± 2 hrs)
ANDREW and Lawrence are lovers; Jo and Saartjie are lovers. Jo and Andrew meet in a club, suitably ‘intoxicated' they go to Jo's flat... and wake up ‘the morning after' realising that, ‘Yes, they've done it!' Are their respective lovers furious? Or aren't they? The result of ‘having done it' is a pregnancy, a child, and high comic chaos. Tickets range from R60 to R80, at the Arena.

NIGHT & DAY - Cole Porter IN DANCE - Dec 31 to January 9 (± 1,75 hrs)
The ageless appeal of Cole Porter's music is interpreted in dance. Cape Town City Ballet brings to life the melodies and characters that are misted over in the nostalgia of the 1940's and 1950's, when Porter was the master of the musicals.
Tickets range from R90 to R110, at the Opera House.

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW - January 15 to February 19, 2011 (2,5 hrs)
THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, Shakespeare's most popular comedy, lights up the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre this summer season. Through this comic, and at times brutal chaos, two of Shakespeare's most celebrated lovers encounter a rugged path to true love. An Italian Circus is coming to Maynardville! Join us and revel in this fantastique story. At the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre.
