The Washington Pavilion invites the public to come and enjoy the theatrical talent of community youth in JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL, April 20-23.

JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL is a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park's best-selling books, brought to life in a genuinely comical (and not strictly-for-kids) musical.

Featuring tremendously loveable characters and fun-filled songs, JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL will capture your heart just as the books captivated an entire generation of students. This community youth production features local youth performers from the Dakota Academy of Performing Arts (DAPA) at the Washington Pavilion.

DAPA is a program designed to inspire young theatre and music students in the Sioux Falls area to practice perfect, play hard and perform better than they ever thought they could. With a team of accomplished theatre professionals mentoring and teaching for DAPA, students are motivated to perform with passion, dedication and excellence.

"There are 17 students in this cast representing 11 different area schools. It's been incredible to watch our teen performers, some of whom have performed in over 15 DAPA shows, act as mentors for our younger performers; the youngest being a third grader. This cast has really come together to create a truly impressive show," said Bob Wendland, DAPA Theatre Coordinator and JUNIE B. JONES, THE MUSICAL Director. "It's the perfect example of the power theatre has to bring people from different backgrounds together."

Public performances will be held Thursday, April 20 through Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 22 and Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. For tickets or more information visit the Washington Pavilion Box Office at 301 S. Main Avenue, call the Box Office at (605) 367-6000 or go online at washingtonpavilion.org.
