SWEENEY TODD Plays Sioux Empire Community Theatre Tonight, 5/4
The Sioux Empire Community Theatre presents Stephen Sondheim and James Wheeler's SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET tonight, May 4th through May 20th. The production is directed by Larry B. Etten.
In one of the most amazing Broadway musicals of all time, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful, hysterically funny and yet heart-pounding masterpiece retells the tale of the wrongly imprisoned barber who years later escapes and returns to London seeking revenge. He sets up shop above Mrs. Lovett’s Meat Pie Emporium and as his thirst for blood increases, the ever-resourceful Mrs. Lovett finds inventive ways to dispose of the evidence. And the people of London love the results…and so will you. The recent revival and film with Johnny Depp have ensured its status as a true Broadway classic.
Performances are May 4-6, 11-13, 18-20. The shows on Fridays and Saturdays will be at 7:30pm and on Sundays at 2pm.
