Countdown Continues for SPACE: AN OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD EXPERIENCE at Washington Pavilion
The Washington Pavilion is excited for the public opening of the new exhibition - Space: An Out-of-this-World Experience - in its Kirby Science Discovery Center.
The project includes 15 new exhibits, expansion of the 2nd floor gallery for an improved patron experience, and new out-of-this-world programming. As the "Liftoff" quickly approaches we will continue to celebrate the countdown to the launch of this new Space-themed exhibition by sharing some interesting facts and tidbits about space.
Space Question #2: Does space exploration have value for everyday life on Earth?
The Facts: Yes! Work in space exploration has supported development of satellite communications that allow not only radio and television, but also telemedicine, GPS navigation, weather forecasts, and defense. There have been thousands of space-related inventions that became products or services, including kidney dialysis machines, CAT scanners, telescope technology that aids in eye surgery, and freeze-dried food. NASA administration estimates that each dollar of NASA spending creates $10 of benefit in the economy.
