This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Dicapo Opera Theatre, which is presenting The Most Happy Fella. This May-September romance features a book, music, and lyrics by Tony-Award winner Frank Loesser, best known for Guys and Dolls and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The Most Happy Fela is directed by Michael Capasso and the conductor is Pacien Mazzagatti. Choreography is by Francine Harmon, set design by John Farrell, costume design by Julie Wyma and lighting design by Susan Roth.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, two time Tony Award nominee and Broadway favorite Marcia Lewis passed away December 21 in her home in Nashville, Tennessee. The beloved, 72 year old character actress lost a battle to both brain and lung cancer. Lewis is survived by her husband, Fred Bryan.

Director Andrei Proshkin and actor Maxim Sukhanov (R-L) at the film set of Andrei Proshkin s movie St. Alexis . The film tells the story of how Saint Alexius, the Metropolitan of Moscow and Wonderworker of All Russia, healed the Tatar Queen Taidula, Jani Beg's wife, from blindness, in 1357. Jani Beg (died 1357) was a khan of the Golden Horde from 1342 to 1357. Alexius, whose name at birth was Elephtherios, was a son of Fyodor (Theodore) Biakont, a boyar from Chernigov who settled in Moscow and founded the great Pleshcheev boyar family.

Dicapo continues its 2010-11 season with a presentation of Puccini's beloved La bohème on October 15th thru October 23rd. This production is directed by Michael Capasso with sets by John Farrell, costumes by Angela Huff, and lighting by Susan Roth. Acclaimed conductor Samuel Bill leads the ensemble.

Following an extremely successful off Broadway run and the sale of the film rights to New Line Cinema, ROCK OF AGES opened on Broadway, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 W. 47th Street). Previews began on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. BroadwayWorld.com's 'rockin' cameras' were there to join the wild cast and crew as they cheered on Gypsy Robe winner Andre Ward!

ROCK OF AGES was 'Born to Run' at New World Stages Saturday night November 8th when Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band member and The Sopranos star Steven Van Zandt stopped by to catch the performance. He was joined by his actress wife, Maureen Van Zandt.

On November 6th, 2008 the landmark NYC restaurant Serendipity3 bestowed its highest honor on the Off-Broadway show Rock of Ages by presenting an ice cream concoction that is fueled by high-octane 80's rock: "I Wanna Rock Root Beer Float".

To celebrate the upcoming opening of the Off-Broadway production of Rock of Ages, The cast of the show rung the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday, October 9. ROCK OF AGES cranks up the volume Off-Broadway with performances beginning Wednesday, October 1 at New World Stages. Slated for an open-ended engagement, the show will have its Official Opening Night on Thursday, October 16 at 7:00 PM.
