In the English production I saw ‘Frozen’ it was an overwhelming spectacle with more heart, depth and darkness than the film. But in the Norwegian version I sadly felt the huge focus on the fact that the tale is grounded in several Nordic legacies got center stage, while the drama and more importantly the heart of the show got lost in the snow.

What did our critic think of THE PROM at Porthouse Theatre/Kent State University?

Moonlight Stage Productions opens its 39th summer season with the hit show that has won more Tony Awards than any other musical. Mel Brooks' 'The Producers' comes to the Moonlight Amphitheatre for the first time June 12 to June 29 at 8:00 p.m. Featuring the Broadway national tour sets and costumes, this comedic masterpiece is based on Mel Brooks' 1968 film of the same name.

It's a hit! Broadway vets, Danette Holden, who was last seen in New York City in the acclaimed Off Broadway production of Cagney, the Musical and Kevin Csolak, currently in Tina Fey's Mean Girls on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre hosted Hunterdon's Stangl Stage Holiday Cabaret, Shine On, to high acclaim this past Sunday. Produced by LBC Talent, NYC the event featured multigenerational homegrown Hunterdon County talent making their mark on the world stage on Broadway, in the music industry, in film and television.

This November, Marc Pickering (Boardwalk Empire, HBO; Les Miserables, Universal Pictures; Sleepy Hollow, Paramount Pictures) will star as the mischievous Cat in the Hat in Immersion Theatre's larger-than-life musical extravaganza, Seussical the Musical. He is joined by Scott Paige (Eugenius, The Other Palace; The Addams Family, UK/Asia Tour; Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, UK Tour/West Yorkshire Playhouse) as the warm-hearted Horton the Elephant and Amy Perry (Bananaman, Southwark Playhouse, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Adelphi Theatre; Sweet Charity, Cadogan Hall) as the humble Gertrude McFuzz in this high-energy production for 'thinkers' of all ages.

Theatre Royal Bath Productions today releases production images for In Praise of Love starring Robert Lindsay, Tara Fitzgerald, Christopher Bonwell and Julian Wadham. The production is currently playing until Saturday 3 November at the Ustinov Studio, with opening night for press on Monday 15 October.

Zhong-Jing Fang was promoted to soloist at the American Ballet Theatre in 2018, the first Chinese ballerina to be promoted to soloist since Yan Chen in 1993. Almost ten years ago, she tore her posterior tibial tendon in her right foot during a rehearsal. Doctors told her that the chances of her returning to the stage were extremely slim.

Theatre Royal Bath Productions today announces full casting for In Praise of Love at the Ustinov Studio with Christopher Bonwell and Julian Wadham joining the previously announced Robert Lindsay and Tara Fitzgerald. Jonathan Church will direct Terence Rattigan's powerful drama at the Ustinov Studio marking his first production at the venue as well as the closing play in his second year as Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Bath's Summer Season. In Praise of Love will run from Wednesday 3 October to Saturday 3 November with opening night for press on Monday 15 October.

Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin exploded onto the music scene in 1967 and, almost overnight, became the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. Davies carries on and mimics the unmistakable raspy voice filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort to a tee, her stage presence making it easy to see what made Joplin a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock and beyond even to this day, so many years after her too-soon passing at the age of 27. After listening to Davies' sharing of Janis' life, it is easy to think the rock legend died from not only from drugs and alcohol but from her lonely co-dependent longing for a man to share her life, equaling her love of the spotlight and adoration received from a live audience, which she could never find. Davies' renditions of Joplin favorites, including “Summertime,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby,” and “Me and Bobby McGee” among others, ignite the stage and audiences alike with a passion no man in her life could ever match.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley presents Bay Area audiences with the California Premiere of FINKS, a comic drama based on the true story of comedian/actor Jack Gilford directed by TheatreWorks Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli. With the 1950s Red Scare in full swing, the House Un-American Activities Committee attacks 'subversion' in the arts. When a romance blossoms between rising comic Mickey and firebrand actress Natalie, they face being blacklisted along with their friends and fellow artists. Written by Jack's son, playwright/screenwriter Joe Gilford, this engaging play shares the story of targeted individuals in the entertainment industry suddenly faced with losing their careers, or being branded forever as 'finks.' Urban Stages' Board of Directors and founding artistic director Frances Hill celebrated 'The Magic of Theater by presenting the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary actor Jim Date at their Gala Benefit. The event was held at the Boathouse in Central Park at 6:30PM on May 14, 2018. The award was presented by stage and screen star Simon Jones (Farinelli and the King, The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy).

San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon (Daren A.C. Carollo and Daniel Thomas, Co-Executive Directors), currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary in continuous operation, has announced the full cast and creative team for the final production of the 2017-2018 season: ME AND MY GIRL, a hilarious and delightful 1930s West End smash hit (winner of three Tony Awards for the critically-acclaimed 1986 Broadway revival). ME AND MY GIRL features book and lyrics by L. Arthur Rose & Douglas Furber, revised by Stephen Fry with contributions by Mike Ockrent, and music by Noel Gay.
