When 'Next to Normal' premiered in Norway back in 2010 it was the very first production to open after the original on Broadway a year and half prior. It was not a replica production, but mimicked it in a lot of ways. It had the three floor structure, endless amount of lightbulbs in the ceilings. This revival, that opened at Lørenskog Hus last Friday, is anything but a replica.
Just last night, Roundabout Theatre Company honored Alan Cumming with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre, and Michael Kors & Lance Le Pere with The Ovation Award for Excellence in Philanthropy. This year's gala 'The Life of the Party' featured a unique concert from Tony, Grammy & Emmy Award winner Cyndi Lauper, created exclusively for the special occasion.

Dan Mendeloff, Cabaret's stage right props person, celebrated his 2,500th show at Saturday's matinee. Dan worked on the show from the start in 1998 at the Kit Kat Club/Henry Miller, moved the show to Studio 54 in 1999 and stayed with it through the entire run. He has been working on the current revival since the beginning as well.

On Saturday, May 1, the Straight for Equality Awards Gala honored Liza Minnelli at the New York Marriott Marquis. Liza Minnelli was presented with the 2010 Straight for Equality in Entertainment Award. This honor recognizes Liza's lifelong role as a Straight Ally of the LGBT community. Additional honorees included NFL Super Bowl XLIV star, now of the Cleveland Browns Scott Fujita, and international food services corporation Sodexo. The event was hosted by comedienne Caroline Rhea, with the live auction hosted by actor and 'Amazing Race IV' winner Reichen Lehmkuhl. BroadwayWorld was on hand to celebrate.

On Monday, September 14th, The National Asian American Theatre Company (NAATCO) will present a one-night-only all Asian-American performance of Terrence McNally's LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION!, directed by Alan Muraoka, at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) to benefit NAATCO. Joe Mantello, the original director of LOVE! VALOUR! COMPASSION! and Stephen Bogardus, a member of the play's original cast, were honorary chairs for the NAATCO benefit performance.
