Dancers for Good, a glitzy gala benefitting The Actors Fund brought top dance talents from Martha Graham, Paul Taylor Dance Companies and more to East Hampton in a flawless, echanting evening of dance honoring two legends and true 'dancers for good': Bebe Neuwith & Chita Rivera.

Three years ago, this reviewer suggested that it was time to rediscover French theatre with the Westport Country Playhouse's production of David Ives's transplantation of Pierre Corneille's 1643 comedy, The Liar (Le Menteur). Happily, Mark Lamos, artistic director of the WCP, now brings us Ives's adaptation of Georges Feydeau's 1907 farce, A Flea in Her Ear (La puce a l'oreille).

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the lavish, large-cast comedy, "A Flea in Her Ear," newly adapted by David Ives from the original by Georges Feydeau, and directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director.  Fresh from a sold-out run by Delaware's Resident Ensemble Players (REP), a professional theater located at the University of Delaware, the co-production with the REP will run in Westport July 10 - 28.  

There have only been 9 Abbots in the history of the Friars Club starting with George M. Cohan who held the position from 1907-1932. Then came: George Jessel, Milton Berle, Mike Todd, Joe E. Lewis, Ed Sullivan, Frank Sinatra, Alan King, and the current Abbot Jerry Lewis. The actor, singer, director, philanthropist and comic legend who passed away this year was saluted and given a heartfelt curtain call by The Friars last night. Gingold Theatrical Group continued its 12th Season of PROJECT SHAW when it presented its 128th concert presentation, Votes for Women, a rare staging of the 1907 play by Elizabeth Robins, for one night only, on Monday, November 20th, at 7pm, at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street). Court Theatre, under the leadership of Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert, concludes the 2016-2017 Season with the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy Harvey by Mary Chase, directed by Devon De Mayo. Harvey runs May 11 - June 11, 2017 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue in Chicago. The Press Opening is Saturday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m.

The wildly popular musical, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder will be at The Memphis Orpheum February 9 - 14th. This daring, dark comedy hails from Roy Horniman's 1907 novel, Israel Rank: The Autobiography of a Criminal, told through the eyes of a man who bumps off the aristocrats standing in the way of his title. In 1949, the book was loosely adapted into the movie, 'Kind Hearts and Coronets' which starred Dennis Price, Joan Greenwood, Valerie Hobson, and Alec Guinness. In 2014, Robert Freedman and Steven Lutvak set the story to music. It has been nabbing awards and slaying audiences ever since.

Too Many Husbands by W. Somerset Maugham plays June 24 - July 16, 2011 at The Vortex, 2307 Manor Rd. map Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m.

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis continues its 2010-2011 season with My Name is Asher Lev, a play by Aaron Posner adapted from the visionary best-selling novel by Chaim Potok.

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis will produce the Indiana premiere of Theresa Rebeck's mystery drama Mauritius in its Frank & Katrina Basile Theatre March 5 through April 4, 2009. Rebeck has had numerous productions of plays such as Spike Heels, Bad Dates, and The Family of Mann Off-Broadway, but Mauritius was her first play to be produced on Broadway (by Manhattan Theatre Club, in 2007.)
