SHREK THE MUSICAL today announces full casting for the major nationwide tour, with Amelia Lilyjoining the cast as 'Princess Fiona' from April 2018. As previously announced, Call the Midwife star Laura Main will also play 'Princess Fiona' at selected venues, sharing the role with Amelia while she continues filming on the current BBC series.
Virginia Repertory presents Disney's Beauty and the Beast, now running through May 14, 2017.
Happy Birthday, Sutton Foster! Foster's portrayal of Reno Sweeney in Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Anythng Goes earned her the 2011 Tony Award Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Sutton also starred on Broadwayas Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical, for which she was honored with Tony and Drama Desk nominations, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Prior to that, Sutton was Inga in the Mel Brooks musical, Young Frankenstein, Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations, LA Ovation Award) and Jo March in Little Women: The Musical (2005 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations). She is the recipient of the 2002 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Astaire Awards for her performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a role she created in the 2000 La Jolla Playhouse premiere.
We are yet another day closer to the biggest night on every theatre-lover's calendar- the 69th Annual Tony Awards, which will be co-hosted by Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming on Sunday, June 7 (8PM on CBS). Happy Birthday, Christopher Sieber! Sieber made his Broadway debut as Agis in the musical Triumph of Love with Betty Buckley and F. Murray Abraham. Following this role, he appeared as a replacement in the roles of Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Trevor Graydon in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Billy Flynn in Chicago. Sieber played the role of Rapunzel's Prince and shared the role of the Wolf with Gregg Edelman in the revival of Into the Woods in 2002. In March 2005, Sieber originated the role of Sir Dennis Galahad in the Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot. He starred as Lord Farquaad in Shrek the Musical which opened on Broadway on December 14, 2008, after an out-of-town tryout in Seattle. On March 11, 2011, Sieber replaced Jeffrey Tambor as Georges in the Broadway production of La Cage Aux Folles opposite Harvey Fierstein.
Kimberley Walsh has begun rehearsals for the role of Princess Fiona in SHREK THE MUSICAL® at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Kimberley's first performance will be on October 5, 2011.
DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions, Ltd. are presenting SHREK THE MUSICAL, with book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire and music by Jeanine Tesori, at the San Diego Civic Theatre through Sunday, July 10, 2011. Performances began July 5.
An entirely new musical, SHREK THE MUSICAL is based on the story and characters from William Steig's book Shrek!, as well as the Dreamworks Animation film Shrek, the first chapter of the Shrek movie series. SHREK THE MUSICAL tells the story of a swamp-dwelling ogre who goes on a life-changing adventure to reclaim the deed to his land. Joined by a wise-cracking donkey, this unlikely hero fights a fearsome dragon, rescues a feisty princess and learns that real friendship and true love aren't only found in fairy tales. Straight from the swap (Ok, the Haymarket Hotel in London), BroadwayWorld.com is excited to share photos of the principle cast members for the upcoming West End production of SHREK THE MUSICAL. The show will open at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in May 2011. Tickets went on sale to the general public on October 1, 2010.
