Goldwyn began his screen career in guest-starring television roles in the mid-1980s. In 1990, he had his breakthrough film role as Carl Bruner in Ghost, earning a Saturn Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He appeared in Designing Women and portrayed Neil Armstrong in the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998).
