She received her MFA in Scenic Design from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts, `99). While in L.A., Juliana designed sets for theatre and film, and worked in television art departments. In 2000, she earned a "Best of L.A. Scenic Design" nomination from L.A. Weekly for her scenic design of "Ghosts in the Cottonwoods," (by Adam Rapp).
