Theater suffered a huge loss this week when the playwright Terrence McNally died at 81, of complications of our current plague, the coronavirus. It was a sad irony since many of McNally's plays dealt with the effects of a previous plague, AIDS, in the 1980s.

Deadline reports that Bradford Dillman, Broadway, film, and television actor, has died on January 16. He was 87 and died from complications with pneumonia. Dillman starred as Edmund in the original Broadway production of Long Day's Journey Into Night in 1956.

Philadelphia audiences will be the first to see this production before it becomes the sixth national tour of a Walnut Street Theatre production.
