The Lark and Venturous Theater Fund of the Tides Foundation have announced that the plays and playwrights selected for the pilot round of the Lark Venturous Playwright Fellowship program are For Want of a Horse by Olivia Dufault; Teenage Dick by Mike Lew; and Today is My Birthday by Susan Soon He Stanton.

Silas Weir Mitchell and Dana Green star in Constellations - playwright Nick Payne's exploration of love in the multiverse - opening at The Armory on May 19, with preview performances beginning May 13, and regular performances running through June 11.

American Theater Company (ATC) concludes its Season 32 with the world premiere of Dan Aibel's T., an exploration of the competitive ice skating saga between Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. Margot Bordelon directs a cast featuring Guy Massey (Al), Leah Raidt (T.), ensemble member Tyler Ravelson (Jeff), Kelli Simpkins (Joanne) and Nate Whelden (Shawn). T. runs from May 18-June 25, 2017 (press opening: Monday, May 22).

The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the opening of Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood, its 66th Rolling World Premiere.

Villanova Theatre proudly presents a workshop production of The Gambler, written by Villanova University's Charles A. Heimbold Chair in Irish Studies and renowned playwright Owen McCafferty and directed by Philadelphia favorite David Bradley. In this provocative new piece, McCafferty brilliantly transforms Fyodor Dostoevsky's classic novella for the stage. Audiences will be transported by a whirlwind of love, gambling, and politics as our narrator spins the roulette wheel, inviting audiences to 'take a chance' on the unexpected. The Gambler is on stage April 26-30, 2017. 

The National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the success of its 57th Rolling World Premiere, Into the Beautiful North by Karen Zacarias.

The University of Washington School of Drama will present Sarah Ruhl's adaptation of Orlando by Virginia Woolf, directed by School of Drama Professor and CIVIC REP Artistic Director L. Zane Jones. The production runs April 28th - May 7th at the historic Glenn Hughes Penthouse Theatre on the University of Washington campus. 

Producers Ken Davenport and Hunter Arnold have announced that Once On This Island, the Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Best Musical, is returning to Broadway this fall.

This year's Rough Draft Festival at LaGuardia Performing Arts features six new plays that are in the pre-production stage of development. In 2007, the Episcopal Actors' Guild established a special award to honor the legacy of actor, playwright and EAG member Thomas Barbour (Arthur, Great White Hope) whose support for emerging artists was an inspiration to many. Now, ten years later, the Barbour Playwrights Award has presented staged readings of 27 new plays and given $5,000 to local writers.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, announces four Rolling World Premieres: Halftime with Don by Ken Weitzman, Doublewide by Stephen Spotswood, The Arsonists by Jacqueline Goldfinger, and Building the Wall by Robert Schenkkan. The four plays will receive a total of 15 NNPN RWP productions, with each play seeing at least three distinct productions in a discrete 12-month period.

Producer Q Theatricals announced today that after critically acclaimed and award winning productions in Seattle, New Jersey and Boston the new musical, ERNEST SHACKLETON LOVES ME, will begin performances on Friday, April 14, 2017 and officially open on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Off-Broadway's Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). This strictly limited engagement will play through Sunday, June 11th only.
