Joseph V. Melillo, executive producer of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, today announced programming for the BAM 2011 Spring Season, which runs from Jan 7 through Jun 11, 2011. The season comprises eight theater, opera, and dance engagements and features BAMcinématek series, BAMcafé Live weekend music events, artist talks, visual art exhibitions, and literary events.

NJ Playwrights Theatre Presents ACROSS THE WIDE AND LONESOME PRAIRIE, 11/4-11/21

In association with The Growing Stage in Netcong, NJ, Playwrights Theatre is pleased to present ACROSS THE WIDE AND LONESOME PRAIRIE by Julie Jensen. The production (appropriate for ages 8 and up) will preview on November 4 and run for three weeks through November 21, 2010 (Press Opening: Friday, November 5 at 8:00pm). The production will be directed by John Pietrowski and features Jane Keitel and Lori Lawrence. Single tickets are on sale now $25 for adults, $22.50 for seniors, $20 for book clubs and groups of 10 or more, and $15 for students. New Repertory Theatre, in residence at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, is thrilled to announce it will be holding post-performance talkbacks after select performances of Cherry Docs with keynote speakers, such as Davalene Cooper, a professor of law at New England Law, Boston; Barbara Wallace Grossman, a Professor of Drama at Tufts University, theater historian, and director; Peter B. Krupp, a prominent Criminal Defense Lawyer and founding partner of Lurie & Krupp, LLP; Jason Owens, a Substance Abuse Counselor and Court Advocate at ROCA in Chelsea; and Elyse Rast, Holocaust Programs Coordinator and Educator, Jewish Community Relations Council, to complement this powerful production.

The 2011 Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum season was announced today by Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie. Stellar actors such as Jane Fonda, John Lithgow and Olympia Dukakis will be featured in plays by Moisés Kaufman, John Lithgow and Morris Panych, respectively, plus works by Lanford Wilson and Theresa Rebeck will be presented in the Taper's 44th season at the Los Angeles Music Center.

MCC Theater Announces FreshPlay Fest Line-Up

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) today announced its annual FreshPlay Festival of new plays by members of the youth company. The FreshPlay Festival merges the voices and creativity of urban youth with the experience of professionals, creating provocative, innovative and fresh theater. This year, the FreshPlay Festival will focus on the workshop process with ten original plays penned by MCC Theater Youth Company playwrights. These young writers will work with a roster of professional directors, actors and peers from the Youth Company's Acting Lab.
