Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt (Angela's Ashes, 'Tis), The Irish and How They Got That Way tells the story of the Irish experience on both sides of the pond. It's imbued with McCourt's unique humor and draws on his personal experience as an Irish-American. Told through a revue of songs, this sometime irreverent but always loving look at the Irish people includes such immortals as "Danny Boy," "The Rose of Tralee, and "Harrigan"-the works of George M. Cohan including "Give My Regards to Broadway," "You're A Grand Ole Flag" and "I'm A Yankee Doodle Dandy"-to music from modern-day Irish rockers U2.

According to a feature about the new UK arena touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the Sydney Morning Herald, Andrew Lloyd Webber reveals he would like to collaborate with Stephen Sondheim.

According to Showbiz411, the music from Meatloaf's 'Bat Out of Hell' album, written by Jim Steinman, is being worked into a stage show. Originally written for a Peter Pan musical that never happened, the songs will be featured 'as a meditation on Captain Hook and friends.' Though it was originally aiming for a West End run, the show is now eying Broadway.

The Associated Press reports that Andrew Lloyd Webber is in possible talks to join the judge's panel of the UK version of THE X FACTOR. Commenting on the rumor, the composer coyly told The Associated Press, 'There could be a little bit of 'you never know.'

Marx, acclaimed narrative nonfiction writer John McPhee and hit songwriter Jim Steinman '69 will all receive honorary degrees from Amherst College during its 191st Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 20, at 10 a.m. on the school's main quad. Amherst President Biddy Martin will deliver the address during the May 20 ceremonies, and seven of the eight honored guests will speak to the approximately 443 members of Amherst's Class of 2012, their families and friends and the college and Western Massachusetts communities in a series of conversations that are free and open to the public on Saturday, May 19. According to his official website, Jim Steinman is busy working on lyrics for a new musical version of The Nutcracker. Titled Nutcracked, the musical will feature the classic music by Tchaikovsky with arrangements by Steven Margoshes. The show will include a book penned by Terry Jones.

Peter Huntley Productions, in association with Southwark Playhouse, will present Floyd Collins.

Musical geniuses Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Seger, Don Schlitz, Harvey Schmidt & Tom Jones and Jim Steinman will become the newest members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization's 43rd Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. The star-studded event is slated for Thursday, June 14th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Additional special award honorees will be announced soon.

Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's Trump Tower condo is back on the market, for sale at $19 million. This is the third time the location has been placed on the market. In 2007, the location was valued at $22.5 million.

When the 2010 Season of the Showboat Majestic opens on May 5th it will make 20 years aboard the floating National Historic Landmark for the staff of Cincinnati Landmark Productions, the producers for this unique, venerable theatre.

Rehearsals begin today, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26.
