Sam Shepard, the author of AGES OF THE MOON, now on stage at Ensemble Theatre, is noted for writing plays that are frank and often absurd. His language choice is gritty, the setting is the American west, and his characters usually self-destruct. He sometimes includes in his stage directions the requirement that part of the set is to be demolished, much like the lives of the people about whom he writes. The actions of the actors carry out these destructions. AGES OF THE MOON is no exception.

AMERICAN PSYCHO just announced that Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley(Next to Normal), Tony Award nominee Jennifer Damiano (Next to Normal) and Helene Yorke (Bullets over Broadway, 'Masters of Sex') will join previously announced Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) in the cast of the highly-anticipated musical. Directed by Rupert Goold (King Charles III), AMERICAN PSYCHO, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, has music and lyrics by Tony and Grammy Award-winner Duncan Sheik, a book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ('Glee') and choreography by Lynne Page (La Cage Aux Folles).

Factory presents BANANA BOYS, written by Leon Aureus, adapted from the novel by Terry Woo, and directed by Factory Artistic Director Nina Lee Aquino. 

CHICAGO, IL (October 5, 2015)-3Arts is honored to announce the ten recipients of its 8th annual 3Arts Awards, presented to women artists, artists of color, and artists with disabilities working in the performing, teaching, and visual arts. The 2015 recipients are: dancer Kris Lenzo and choreographer Stephanie Martinez; vocalist Frank Waln and instrumentalist Chihsuan Yang; teaching artists Benji Hart and Chris Silva; actors Allen Gilmore and Fawzia Mirza; and visual artists Cheryl Pope and Fo Wilson. 3Arts Awards honorees each receive an unrestricted $25,000 award to put to use according to their individual needs and priorities. To date, the Chicago-based, nonprofit granting organization 3Arts has awarded over $1.5 million in total grants to more than 100 Chicago artists in the past eight years.

Snapdragon Productions today announce a UK tour of their acclaimed revival of Richard Bean's Toast, following a successful run at Park Theatre in 2014.  Matthew Kelly and Simon Greenall reprise their roles as Nellie and Cecil, with full cast to be announced soon.  The tour begins at the Rose Theatre Kingston from 4 - 13 February before playing eight further dates finishing at Nottingham Theatre Royal.

The Public Theater will kick off the 2015-16 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of Homer's THE ODYSSEY, conceived and directed by Public Works Director Lear deBessonet, with music, lyrics and book by Todd Almond. THE ODYSSEY will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside five equity actors, including this year Brandon Victor Dixon as Odysseus and Karen Olivo as Penelope.

59E59 Theaters will welcome the return of Fishamble: The New Play Company (Dublin, Ireland) with the US premiere of LITTLE THING, BIG THING written by Donal O'Kelly and directed by Jim Culleton. Part of Origin's 1st Irish Theatre Festival, LITTLE THING, BIG THING begins performances on Wednesday, September 2 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 27.  Press opening is Tuesday, September 8 at 7:15 PM.  The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:15 PM; Friday at 8:15 PM; Saturday at 2:15 PM & 8:15 PM; and Sunday at 3:15 PM. In this taut 2013 theatrical adaptation of Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela's award winning-book, the apartheid regime's most notorious assassin and head of its death squad, Eugene de Kock (played by Matthew Marsh), sits opposite psychologist Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela (played Noma Dumezweni) in Pretoria Central Prison in 1997. Gobodo-Madikizela is a member of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission determined to understand his actions. She questions de Kock, who is sentenced to two life terms plus 212 years for crimes against humanity, murder, conspiracy to murder, attempted murder, assault, kidnapping, illegal possession of firearms, and fraud.

Director Walter Meierjohann has announced the cast of the world premiere of The Funfair, the first HOME production in its brand new home at First Street in Manchester. An adaptation by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephens of Ödon von Horvath's classic 1932 play Kasimir and Karoline, the production features a cast of 13 actors and actor-musicians.

Following 15 Non-Equity Jeff Award nominations for its 2014-15 productions of Balm in Gilead, Titanic and Men Should Weep, Griffin Theatre Company is pleased to present its summer 2015 production: the Chicago premiere of the heart-pounding thriller THE BIRDS, adapted by acclaimed Irish playwright Conor McPherson and directed by ensemble member Kevin Kingston. John Goodman and Tom Sturridge join Damian Lewis in the major new revival of David Mamet's gripping 1975 play American Buffalo. Directed by Daniel Evans, American Buffalo will run at Wyndham's Theatre for a strictly limited, opening tonight, 27 April and playing through 27 June 2015.

Tangent Theatre Company, based in the intimate Carpenter Shop Theater in Tivoli's village center, announces a fifth week of performances for their Spring 2015 production: the contemporary moral drama Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan. The play will now run through Sunday, May 3. Set in a Manhattan apartment building lobby, the story examines the shades of grey between right and wrong, and centers on the main character, Jeff, the building's security guard, and three other diverse characters, including Jeff's supervisor William and two New York City police officers (Bill and Dawn). Remaining performances of Lobby Hero are Thursdays - Saturdays 8pm; Sundays 3pm.
