This summer, the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival marks its 31st season in the beautiful seaside setting of Long Island's East End. The Island's longest-running classical music festival this year features 12 concerts from today, July 30 to August 24, featuring the signature mix of renowned and up-and-coming artists and classic and new music that has made it one of the most noteworthy summer music festivals in the country.

Violinist Nicola Benedetti will make her New York Philharmonic subscription debut - replacing Janine Jansen, who has been advised by her doctor not to play for at least a week - in performances of Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 1. Vladimir Jurowski will make his Philharmonic debut conducting the concerts, tonight, May 21, 2014, at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, May 23 at 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday, May 24 at 8:00 p.m. The program will conclude with selections from Prokofiev's Cinderella.

Sir Andrew Davis will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct the U.S. Premiere of Julian Anderson's The Discovery of Heaven, a New York Philharmonic Co-Commission with the London Philharmonic Orchestra; Franck's Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra, with Marc-Andre Hamelin as soloist in his Philharmonic subscription debut; and selections from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suites Nos. 1 and 2. Riccardo Muti, the preeminent conductor and the music director of the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra, returns to Chicago in late January for two weeks of CSO subscription programs. Concerts with Maestro Muti begin on Thursday, January 30 at 8 p.m. and continue on January 31 and February 1. This program—on which Muti and the CSO are joined by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and composer and cellist Giovanni Sollima—includes Schubert's Symphonies No. 3 and 4 along with the world premiere of a commissioned work for two cellos and orchestra by Giovanni Sollima. Maestro Muti's association with Sollima goes back over a decade, and includes previous performances together, as well as two prior world premieres: from Teatro alla Scala, which resulted in Sollima's Tempesta e Ritratti, premiered by Maestro Muti in 2001, and from Ravenna, for which Sollima composedPassiuni, premiered by Muti and the Cherubini Orchestra in 2008.
