Southern Rep Theatre & Partners to Develop New Performing Arts Complex

Today, Southern Rep Theatre, Rose Community Development Corporation and Alembic Community Development announced plans for launching the Bayou Treme Center campus development project, which will renovate the long-vacant former St Rose de Lima Church into a hub for the performing arts in the city and a cultural anchor on the Bayou Road corridor. The ceremony was followed by guided tours through the historic building and around the site of the upcoming campus development.

The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has awarded the Phoenix Chorale and the Kansas City Chorale a GRAMMY Award at the 58th Annual GRAMMY Award Ceremony held February 15, 2016, in Los Angeles. Abrons Arts Center and New York City Players' American Playwrights Division present Really, a new play written by Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Richard Maxwell and designed by photographer Michael Schmelling. Performed by Elaine Davis, Tavish Miller and Kaneza Schaal, Really is a play about grief, intimacy and the difference between goodness and greatness seen through the lens of photography. A black woman takes pictures of her artist boyfriend's mom. As they jockey for a claim to him, they try to redefine themselves in the wake of his legacy.

The Matrix Theatre Company honors Black History Month with the Los Angeles premiere of The Mountaintop, directed by Obie Award-winner Roger Guenveur Smith and starring Larry Bates and Danielle Mone Truitt. Recipient of London's 2010 Olivier Award, Katori Hall's gripping and often humorous re-imagining of events the night before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. takes on new meaning with the advent of the Black Lives Matter movement. Off-Broadway's GOLDEN BRIDE to Offer Free Bus Service

Campus Coach Lines has announced its plan for a new free-to-the-public bus service from Columbus Circle in Midtown Manhattan to the Museum of Jewish Heritage [MJH] in Battery Park City. In sync with Lower Manhattan's cultural renaissance, and part of ongoing efforts in increasing accessibility to the Museum of Jewish Heritage, the bus service will commence this Thursday, December 17, shuttling patrons to the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene's [NYTF] critically-acclaimed production of The Golden Bride.

Humana Festival Founder Jon Jory and More to Join Cleveland Play House's Hall of Fame

Cleveland Play House will honor a new class of those who have contributed to its vibrant history with a Hall of Fame induction ceremony and luncheon on October 25th from 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Cibreo Privato located at 2037 E. 14th Street. 2015/16 inductees will include Jon Jory, a former apprentice actor at CPH who went on to found the Humana Festival of New American Plays, The Resident Company of CPH (1921-88), and the CPH Heritage Award will be presented to Karamu House, the revolutionary theatre who, like CPH, is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
