Frank Baum's story and the tuneful adaptation we all know and love alive with a magical production that puts a spell over the audience and transports them with imagination and heartfelt performances.

For 35 years, the Firehall Arts Centre has been a cultural beacon for the Vancouver arts community, producing and presenting provocative, thought-provoking, compelling, and highly entertaining pieces of work in the heritage building at the corner of Cordova and Gore. 

Nonprofit Greenway Arts Alliance (GAA), under the direction of Co-Founders Whitney Weston and Pierson Blaetz, will celebrate its 20th Anniversary of uniting communities through art, education and social enterprise on October 8, 2017. GAA, a community leader and role model in social enterprise, runs the Greenway Court Theatre (a professional 99-seat theater), the Greenway Institute for the Arts (an arts education program at Fairfax High School, Title 1 high school in Los Angeles) and the Melrose Trading Post (a weekly open-air arts based marketplace). An all-day community celebration of Greenway Arts Alliance's 20th Anniversary will take place at the world famous Melrose Trading Post on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Jessica Sherr is proud to announce the limited Chicago engagement of her smash hit one-woman show Bette Davis Ain't for Sissies, June 15 - July 2, at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. Created and performed by Sherr, the 5-star reviewed show has performed in Edinburgh, Scotland, had a run at The St. James London, a sold-out off-Broadway run at 59E59 Theaters and toured performing arts centers throughout the United States. Good Triumphs Over All in WICKED. It's hard to know if in 1900 L. Frank Baum ever imagined there would be an afterlife to his children's book 'The Wizard of Oz,' but in 1939 MGM capitalized on book's wide appeal and their film version has became a staple in every child's movie experience. Flash forward 64 years to what can best be described as a prequel to Dorothy's famous journey, and you have the megamusical WICKED, which has become almost as popular as the MGM film.

Actor Stephen Rea and cellist Neil Martin visit 92Y's Unterberg Poetry Center on Monday, May 22 at 7:30 PM for a words and music performance of  Seamus Heaney's translation of Virgil's Aeneid Book VI. The performance is a U.S. premiere; Rea and Martin, both of whom were friends and collaborators of Heaney, have performed the piece in the U.K.

Broadcast Music, Inc.®, (BMI®) and the Apollo Theater partner to present BMI's renowned 'How I Wrote That Song' panel at the Harlem Theater.
