New Repertory Theatre announces the NEXT REP BLACK BOX FESTIVAL SPOTLIGHT SYMPOSIUM SERIES, January 24-February 18, 2016 in the Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA.

These are some of the important questions that music raises, and each year, Pacific Symphony, led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, attempts to shed light on the answers by exploring a different facet of American music through the American Composers Festival (ACF). This year's ACF spotlights organ music through four highly acclaimed organists and the splendor of the king of instruments—in this case, the one-of-a-kind William J. Gillespie Concert Organ, located in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall. Built from steel, tin, oak, poplar, maple, lead and carbon fiber, the astounding instrument found in the Symphony's concert hall required three years and 42,000 hours of labor by a team of organ builders at C.B Fisk in Gloucester, Mass., before making its debut with Pacific Symphony in 2008.

In its tenth anniversary season, THE CROSSING - the extraordinary chamber choir from Philadelphia, dedicated to new music and conducted by Donald Nally - comes to New York on Saturday, January 23, 2016 to perform the NY premiere of THE FIFTH CENTURY, a large-scale work for the rare combination of choir and saxophone quartet by the iconic avant-garde English composer GAVIN BRYARS. The event, which will also feature the great sax quartet PRISM and will have Bryars in the audience, takes place at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Chapel at Trinity Church, Wall Street.

The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, will present an evening full of holiday cheer at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with help from Tony award nominees Stephanie J. Block and Brian d'Arcy James, set to make the season bright with a program of holiday favorites tonight and tomorrow, December 18 and 19, 2015 at 8:00PM. The orchestra will also be joined by Judith Clurman's Essential Voices USA.

The Fulton Theatre kicks off the holiday season with the musical comedy and treat for the entire family, Elf, November 17th through January 3rd. As 'Buddy' says in the script, 'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear,' there are many joyful tunes throughout the production, including 'SparkleJollyTwinkleJingley,' 'A Christmas Song,' 'The Story of Buddy the Elf,' and more!

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 36 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2016 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 19 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration. New Zealand native Hayden Tee will assume the role of Javert beginning Friday, January 29 in Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new Broadway production of Claude-Michel Schonberg & Alain Boublil's LES MISERABLES, now in its second year at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street). Tee comes directly to Broadway from the new Australian production ofLES MISERABLES, for which he has received wide acclaim. Earl Carpenter will give his final performance as Javert at the matinee on Sunday, January 24 before departing to star in the upcoming Manila engagement of LES MISERABLES.

The director is 2014 JMK Award winner Kate Hewitt, who is currently Associate Director on Sam Mendes' Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the West End.
