Due to popular pre-sale demand, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will add an additional week of performances for THE REAL THING, Tom Stoppard's (The Coast of Utopia, Arcadia, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) timeless comedy about an all-too-witty playwright who succumbs to the emotional ravages he puts his characters through. Timothy Near ("Master Harold"…and the boys) returns to Aurora to helm this Tony Award-winner for Best Play (1984) and Best Revival of a Play (2000), featuring Elijah Alexander, Liz Sklar, Carrie Paff (This Is How It Goes, A Delicate Balance, Collapse),Tommy Gorrebeeck (The Monster-Builder, The Eccentricities of a Nightingale), Seann Gallagher, and Emily Radosevich. THE REAL THING now plays through March 5th (added performances: Tuesday, February 28, 7pm; Wednesday, March 1, 8pm; Thursday, March 2, 8pm; Friday, March 3, 8pm; Saturday, March 4, 8pm; Sunday, March 5, 2pm, 7pm) at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Even before breaking ground on their new home, IAC will welcome audiences into the existing Cybert Tire site for Rooms, a site-specific theatrical installation by the great Irish playwright Enda Walsh (May 3-28). IAC will present Rooms alongside St. Ann's Warehouse premiere of Walsh's new play, Arlington (May 3-28), making for a season of Walsh works in New York, supported by Culture Ireland.

The Los Angeles Master Chorale will present its first performances of Beethoven's powerful Missa solemnis in 13 years on its own concert series on Saturday, January 21 at 2 PM and Sunday, January 22 at 7 PM at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Heralded as a pillar of the choral and orchestral repertoire, the work is considered a specialty of the Master Chorale that last performed the work with Artistic Director Grant Gershon in Disney Hall in 2004.

GK Arts Center is proud to host Gelsey Kirkland Ballet's perennial holiday classic, The Nutcracker. This is the fourth year this production of The Nutcracker will be performed over the course of a special two-week engagement, running December 8-18 at the GK Arts Center (29 Jay Street, formerly St. Ann's Warehouse in Dumbo, Brooklyn, N.Y.).  The 18-member company is under the artistic direction of Gelsey Kirkland and Michael Chernov.

San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock today announced the casting and schedule for the Company's summer 2018 presentations of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung). The four-opera cycle of Das Rheingold,Die Walkure, Siegfried and Gotterdammerung-widely considered the greatest and most ambitious work ever conceived for the lyric stage-will be presented in three complete cycles from June 12 through July 1, 2018. 

Brent Assink, Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony since 1999 and a shaper of Bay Area cultural life for almost two decades, today announced his plans to conclude his tenure with the Symphony in 2017. When he leaves, he will have served at the organization's helm for 18 years, during which he encouraged and led innovative artistic and media projects, worked to strengthen organizational stability, and captured global recognition for the Orchestra.

The Suzanne Farrell Ballet performed a staging-in-process showing of the second movement of the rarely seen George Balanchine ballet, Gounod Symphony, on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the NYU Skirball Center. Presented in collaboration with The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University, the revived work will premiere in full at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.  October 21-23, 2016

The Old Globe presents the world premiere of Steve Martin's new play METEOR SHOWER, an adult comedy, marking his welcome return to the Globe following the great success of Bright Star. It will be directed by Gordon Edelstein in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where Edelstein serves as Artistic Director (and no, he is not related to Barry).

Stage Left Theatre is pleased to announce the programming for its 35th season. The season begins with the world premiere of The Bottle Tree by Beth Kander directed by ensemble member Amy Szerlong. The Bottle Tree was developed through Stage Left's Downstage Left program, at the Ashland New Plays Festival and and has received an Honorable Mention on The Kilroys List for the past two years. Next, in the winter, Stage Left and Cor Theatre present a co-production of What of the Night? by Maria Irene Fornes, directed by Carlos Murillo. This epic meditation on poverty in America was a Pultizer finalist in 1990. Cor Theatre Artistic Director Tosha Fowler says of the partnership, 'With admiration for Stage Left's longevity and the exciting opportunities they provide to artists through their strong commitment to mission, we at Cor are thrilled to announce a collaboration of theatre that is bound to leave you breathless. Combining Stage Left's strength with our fearless aesthetic, Fornes' poetically primal voice, and Carlos Murillo's passionate vision, What of the Night is going to be our biggest leap yet.' Finally, the company will present LeapFest, its annual developmental festival featuring workshop productions of new plays, at a time to be announced later.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of two-time Tony Award® - winning playwright Peter Shaffer, who passed away on June 6th in County Cork, Ireland at age 90. The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed in his memory on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at exactly 6:45pmfor one minute.

Tome Cousin is an interdisciplinary artist who has molded an award winning international career that includes collaboration and performance on Broadway, television, film, dance, theater, music, photography, and literature. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Dance History and Choreography and a Masters of Fine Art in New Media Art and Performance. He is an Associate Professor of Dance at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Drama.
