On Friday, November 2nd, POPS the Club will host a "Casino Masquerade" in partnership with the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The event will take place in LAAC's historic Centennial Ballroom and Olympic Lounge. A festive night of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live music, and casino games benefitting POPS the Club, an LA-­based nonprofit that transforms the lives of teens who have loved ones in prison.

As Parole  Commissioner Robert Barton says, "There should be a POPS  club in every high school, transforming stigma and shame to  hope and healing." Gala organizers call upon all of us to "Pick  up our masks, so POPS students can drop theirs." The evening will  celebrate POPS 2019 high school graduates and honor author and activist,   Christina McDowell, the highly-­praised writer of the memoir After Perfect.     

In continued celebration of their Tenth Anniversary of Literary Salons, Pen Parentis Presents Authors Helen Benedict, Carla Du Pree and Herta Feely at Andaz Wall Street on Tuesday November 13th from 7pm to 9:30pm. The authors will all read on the theme of betrayal. Q&A will follow centering around work-life balance. All authors presented at Pen Parentis are also parents - the series aims to shatter the negative stereotype of writer-parent by presenting the creative diversity of high quality work by writers who also happen to have kids. 

Segerstrom Center for the Arts presents the Ahmad Jamal Quartet for one performance only on October 19 at 8:00pm. The extraordinary night of music features jazz legend and celebrated pianist-composer Ahmad Jamal who returns to the center with his quartet which includes James Cammack, bass; Herlin Riley, drums; and Manolo Badrena, percussion.

7Horse has announced the first batch of dates for their upcoming 'Superfecta Tour.' Their new studio album of the same name will be released on December 7th. The 11 track set is the band's fourth studio album and the follow up to 2016's Livin in a Bitch of a World. Dates below with more to be announced.

The complete cast for the world premiere Chicago production of the new comedy musical, TOOTSIE has just been announced. According to Deadline, Margot Robbie is set to play Sharon Tate in upcoming Quentin Tarantino picture ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. The Oscar-Nominated star of I, TONYA joins previously cast Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio in the film. 

Variety has reported that Leonardo DiCaprio will star in Quentin Tarantino's currently untitled film about Charles Manson. DiCaprio will portray an aging, out of work actor. Margot Robbie currently being considered for the role of Sharon Tate. Tom Cruise and Al Pacino are also being pursued for the film.

 OPERA America, the national service organization for opera and the nation's leading champion for American opera, is pleased to announce that Timothy O'Leary, general director of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, has been elected the new chairman of OPERA America's board of directors. He has been involved with OPERA America since 2006, when he participated in Leadership Advance, one of the organization's professional development programs. He joined OPERA America's board in 2011. O'Leary was elected chairman at OPERA America's recent annual business meeting — held during Opera Conference 2016 in Montreal — where eight new members were also elected to the board and three current members were re-elected to three-year terms.
