Children's Theatre Company (CTC) begins its 50th Anniversary celebration on August 9, 2015 with a grand-scale, FREE family Season Opener at Target Field. Just announced, CTC alumna turned two-time Tony-nominated Broadway actress, Laura Osnes, will perform at the event that will also include interactive games, performances by CTC cast for the upcoming season, Theatre Arts Training students, and a jumbotron screening of the never-before-seen filmed theatrical production of A Year with Frog and Toad, based on the Arnold Lobel stories with the original Broadway cast in high definition. The event will begin at 5:30pm and end at 8:30pm.

My first experience with LES MISERABLES was in 1996, as a tween performing in my school's musical review. While most other kids learned the material and moved on, I saved my pennies for the cast recording, memorizing the show word-for-word. After moving to New York in 2004, my work provided me with virtually unlimited tickets to the city's hottest shows. By the time LES MISERABLES returned to Broadway (in 2006, with a carbon-copy revival of the original production that had closed three years previously), I was a jaded New York twenty-something, no longer inspired by the 'tourist trap' hits. Then, as I sat in the darkened Broadhurst Theatre, the turntable moved, and I realized I was watching an unparalleled piece of theatre history.

International theatre producer David King is delighted to announce that Britain's Got Talent Semi-Finalist Becky O'Brien will be joining the cast of JUDY - THE SONGBOOK OF JUDY GARLAND at the New Wimbledon Theatre from 16th -20th June. Becky stole the hearts of the nation and received a standing ovation from the four judges with her stunning rendition of the classic song, Somewhere Over The Rainbow. Huge acclaim followed this appearance on National TV, and Becky was voted through to the semi-finals.

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced today the spring 2015 honorees recognizing theatre accomplishments by Minnesota students and schools participating in the 2014-15 SpotLight Musical Theatre Program culminating in the SpotLight Showcase Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15 at the State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave., downtown Minneapolis). Now celebrating its Tenth Anniversary, SpotLight is the Trust's premier education initiative which supports and honors Minnesota high school musical theatre students and programs that produce annual musicals. Later this week, the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Gigi will open at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street), marking the Broadway debut of Vanessa Hudgens, who plays the title role. Though this is the first time that the actress has tread the boards of the Great White Way, she has been captivating audiences with her musical talents for years, having made her big break as 'Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical franchise.
