Valentina Kozlova's Dance Conservatory Company returns to Symphony Space with Kozlova's delightful new production of Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker Winter Suite,' running slightly over one hour - two performances Saturday December 5 at 3 PM & 5:30 PM.   Performers are drawn from Kozlova's midtown ballet school and include several remarkable young dancers who have won medals in ballet competitions around the world.

In celebration of MOMIX's 35th Anniversary Season, the company returns to The Joyce Theater for four weeks with the New York premiere of Alchemia, the latest full-length creation for MOMIX by founder and Artistic Director Moses Pendleton. MOMIX will be performing Alchemia at The Joyce Theater from July 6 through August 1. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton are excited to announce the main company's 2015-16 season performances in Chicago. Tickets to four engagements at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, 205 East Randolph Street, are available immediately as a Season 38 subscription; single tickets will go on sale in August 2015.

Balanchine once said, "See the music, hear the dance". The audience at the Koch Theater on the afternoon of February 22nd 2014 had the opportunity to do exactly that when the works of three very different choreographers brought treasured violin concertos to life. Kudos to Concertmasters Arturo Delmoni and Kurt Nikkanen, who offered admirable solo violin performances.

With Fashion Week 2014 under way in the tents at Lincoln Center from February 6th to 13th, New York City Ballet dusted off Peter Martins' 2012 tribute to iconic designer Valentino for the evening performance at Koch Theater on Saturday, February 8th. A description of 'Bal de Couture' on the company's web site enthused that we would feel as though we were 'on a runway at the ballet'. Not so much. The unwieldy black and white ball gowns with red petticoats, described in a handout available in the lobby as 'dazzling', managed to make the svelte ballerinas appear to be thick-waisted as they maneuvered through Peter Martins' uninspired choreography along with male dancers in black suits. Three dancers in tutus darted in and out of the scenes set to the waltz and the polonaise from Tschaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, looking as though they had ended up at the wrong party. The central section, a cliched love triangle to Tschaikovsky's Elegie in G for Strings, went on far too long - as often happens in ballets by Martins.

The Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center ('the PAC') today announces the establishment of a core team of artistic leaders: David Lan (Artistic Director of London's Young Vic) as Consulting Artistic Director; Lucy Sexton (artist, producer, and Director of the New York Dance & Performance Awards (aka The Bessies)) as Associate Artistic Director; and Andy Hayles, Managing Partner of Charcoalblue (London's National Theatre, Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, and the future home of Brooklyn's St. Ann's Warehouse), as theater design consultant. Stephen Daldry (director of the films The Hours, Billy Elliot, The Reader and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and of Billy Elliot the Musical, and former Artistic Director of London's Gate Theatre and Royal Court Theatre) has joined the PAC's Board of Directors. The artistic team is collaborating with the PAC's staff, board and numerous consultants to create a place that is unique on the cultural landscapes of New York, the United States and the world.

As Houston's leading performing arts presenter, Society for the Performing Arts (SPA) has announced its 2013-2014 season filled with music, dance and family entertainment from the world's best artists and companies.

Company C Contemporary Ballet founder and Artistic Director Charles Anderson has announced details of the Company's 2014 season of two programs plus a benefit gala in San Francisco and Walnut Creek with performances January 30 through May 11, 2014, at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and ODC Theater in San Francisco and the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. The 12th season will feature a wide range of the kinds of ballets that have set the barre high for this 14-member Bay Area Company, which will return to New York for its third season there at the Joyce Theater August 9 and 10. Theatricality, precision technique, bravura performance, wit and a flair for the off-beat and innovative will be embodied in world premieres by Anderson, Susan Jaffe, Maurice Causey and Charles Moulton, as well as in the return of repertory favorites by Anderson, Patrick Corbin, Alexandre Proia, Charles Moulton and Yuri Zhukov. Organizers of Season of Cambodia announce the final week of events for its two-month long arts festival, which began in early April 2013, and now culminates with a visual arts 'Open Studio' exhibition of works by five artists-in-residence at Governors Island off the southern tip of Manhattan. This 'open studio' of work reflects two months of work by contemporary Cambodian and Cambodian-American artists in the disciplines of sculpture, photography, video, installation, and performance, curated by curator-in-residence Vuth Lyno and the final piece of the festival's visual arts program, IN RESIDENCE, co-curated by Leeza Ahmady of AhmadyArts and Asian Contemporary Art Week (New York City) and Erin Gleeson ofSA SA BASSAC (Phnom Penh). The three-day event, in conjunction with the annual opening of Governors Island on Memorial Day Weekend, takes place at the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's Art Center (Building 110) on May 25th - 27th from 12pm - 5pm daily.

The work serves as a potent symbol of the resilience of the artistic spirit, as many of the performers survived the Khmer Rouge's reign of terror, having to bury their puppets and instruments to preserve this ancient art form.
