Flashback Friday! The Board of the Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association, which is comprised of over 140 film and TV journalists and/or critics nationwide, had fun last February picking its choices for the very best (or at least dishiest) movies through the years that have somehow included the Academy Awards ® in their storylines (note: GALECA is not affiliated with the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences). Let's revisit GALECA's Top 10 Movies That Costar Oscar ®, ranked from 1 to 10 below, shall we? 

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2015-16 season on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 8pm with Regina Carter's Southern Comfort.

Jeff Macauley loves Dinah Shore. That's usually the case when a cabaret performer devotes an entire show to a star's body of work. But there's affection and admiration, and then there's all-encompassing passion and adoration that informs the performer's every note, lyric, and anecdote, and thereby imparts that love to us (whether or not we were previously fans). By that standard, MWAH! The Dinah Shore Show, Macauley's 1998 Backstage Bistro Award Winner for 'Outstanding Theme Show' (revived last Saturday night as part of Stephen Hanks' monthly New York Cabaret's Greatest Hits series at the Metropolitan Room--is one of the most successful shows of its kind I've seen.

George Street Playhouse and American Repertory Ballet will co-host a discussion on the late ballet and film legend, Rudolf Nureyev, led by Princeton Ballet School Director Mary Pat Robertson, tonight, February 19, 2016. The discussion -- free and open to the public -- will take place at 7 p.m. at George Street Playhouse (9 Livingston Avenue) prior to that evening's 8 p.m. performance of NUREYEV'S EYES, on stage at GSP now through February 21.

This intensive examination of the life and times of Giacomo Puccini opens a window onto Italy's rich musical heritage from Palestrina to Menotti, by way of the most popular and successful - yet, paradoxically, frequently critically underrated - opera composer of all time. Complementing the music festival, some of the Tuscan master's most compelling compatriots provide other key SummerScape highlights.

It's time to put in your late winter pre-orders! Masterworks Broadway has just announced its slate of releases for Winter 2016, including three classic albums from the archives - SWEET CHARITY (February 12), SALAD DAYS (March 18), and KISMET (April 15). On February 26, Masterworks Broadway releases THE ESSENTIAL STEPHEN SONDHEIM, celebrating the 85th birthday year of the legendary theater composer and lyricist.

President Barack Obama named this year's honoreees last week, and the awards will be presented at the White House today, November 24th.

Hartford Stage presents the sold-out world premiere of REAR WINDOW, adapted for the stage by Keith Reddin, and directed by Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak, closing tonight, November 15. Led by screen star Kevin Bacon, the show opened on October 30.

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents the sparkling operetta The Merry Widow by Franz Lehar in a new-to-Chicago production directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. The New York Philharmonic will present Rachmaninoff: A Philharmonic Festival, tonight, November 10-28, 2015, featuring 24-year-old Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov performing three of the composer's piano concertos and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini over the course of three consecutive all-Rachmaninoff programs, each led by a different conductor: Cristian Macelaru (in his Philharmonic debut), Neeme Jarvi, and Ludovic Morlot.

Regent's Park Theatre's critically-acclaimed production of William Golding's Lord of the Flies comes to the Lyceum Theatre from Tuesday 10 - Saturday 14 November as part of a major UK tour.  The production marks the return of Regent's Park Theatre to Sheffield following their smash hit production of To Kill a Mockingbird earlier this year.
