The Kimmel Center and The Shubert Organization today announced the 2015-2016 Broadway Philadelphia season, featuring a spectacular lineup of Tony Award winning Broadway hits. The upcoming season features productions with a combined 46 Tony nominations, and will introduce six brand-new national touring shows making their Philadelphia premieres. When Cole Porter wrote, 'Anything Goes,' he could have easily been referring to New York cabaret circa the 2000-sies. One of the joys of attending and reviewing cabaret shows in the Big Apple these days is that every performing style, show theme, cultural perspective, political point of view, race, gender, and sexual preference is represented on a stage. Some cabaret purists may not agree, but the genre seems to have no boundaries in terms of what is acceptable and what is not. And as long as a show is entertaining, who cares about boundaries and strict definitions of what works in the art form? Here are reviews of three recent shows from Barbara Malley, Robin Kradles, and Donna Hayes that reflect the delicious diversity that is cabaret.

THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK at Theatre Palisades begins with Otto Frank returning to the family hiding place after his release from Auschwitz when the camp was liberated on 1-27-45. With worldwide celebrations of its 70th anniversary this week, now is the perfect time to experience the story never to be forgotten about Anne's two-year ordeal hiding with her family during the German occupation of the Netherlands. This is a story of life, not death - a true depiction of raw, daily survival during the Holocaust.

The new Broadway musical DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, based on Boris Pasternak's Nobel Prize-winning 20th-century epic Russian masterpiece, will star Tam Mutu making his Broadway debut as the passionate Doctor and poet Yurii Zhivago, Kelli Barrett (Wicked) as the alluring Lara Guishar, Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt (Rocky Horror Show) as the cynical bourgeois magistrate Viktor Komarovsky, and Paul Nolan (Jesus Chris Superstar) as political radical Pasha Antipov. This presentation comes just one year after the gallery's own inaugural exhibition, Audible Presence: Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Cy Twombly, attracted international attention for its re-contextualizing of Klein's work and contributions, including his historic Symphonie Monoton-Silence (1949). Dominique Levy represents the Estate of Yves Klein.

Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott opened with a roar on Friday September 26 at the Coterie Theatre in Kansas City, Mo. "When you have your hand in the lion's mouth it is best to pat it on the head. . ." The lion is segregation and it is Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement that is patting it on the head. Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott, written by Sue Greenberg, opened the 2014-2015 season for the theater.
