Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra kicks off its season with resplendent works by three of England's finest composers. William Walton wrote Crown Imperial: Coronation March for the crowning of Edward VIII in May 1937. When Edward VIII abdicated, the work was instead performed for his younger brother, George VI. Vaughan Williams wrote his Piano Concerto in C for pianist Harriet Cohen. Performed with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra by guest soloist Cristina Valdes, this virtuosic concerto pays homage to Bach while also expressing a percussive and exuberant energy. The program concludes with Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations in which each variation is inspired by and dedicated to Elgar's friends or loved ones.
