Culture Clash satirist/comedian Richard Montoya explores the controversial history of Chavez Ravine at Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's (LACO) WESTSIDE CONNECTIONS chamber music series on Thursday, April 3, 2014, 7:30 pm, at the Moss Theater in Santa Monica. The three-part series, with "LA Influential" as this year's thematic twist, examines the impact our diverse city has had on arts and culture through the eyes of distinguished guest artists and speakers. LACO Concertmaster and series curator Margaret Batjer has programmed evenings that showcase the virtuosic artistry of LACO musicians in chamber masterpieces, reflecting the compelling LA connections and inspirations that have deeply influenced the series' special guests.

Tony Award winner Cynthia Nixon joins the Broadway cast of Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing opposite Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal. She'll play the role of Charlotte. The show will begin performances at Roundabout Theater Company's American Airlines Theatre on October 2, 2014, directed by Sam Gold. Gyllenhaal will make her Broadway debut starring as 'Annie' opposite McGregor as 'Henry'.

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) just announced that Maggie Gyllenhaal will make her Broadway debut starring as "Annie" opposite Ewan McGregor as "Henry" in Tom Stoppard's Tony® Award-winning play The Real Thing, directed by Sam Gold.

The play examines the nature of honesty, and its use of a play within a play is one of many levels on which the author teases the audience with the difference between semblance and reality, both in love and on the stage. Couples change partners easily and partners confront each other when the evidence points to acts of indiscretion. And it seems the women are the worst offenders.

Riley Productions presents Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING directed by Linda Alznauer at the Two Roads Theatre in Studio City. In this witty take on love and marriage, Henry, a famous playwright, finds himself the star of his own real-life drama. He discovers that what he has written in his latest play seems to be happening in real life and is turning his world upside down.

Earlier this month, BroadwayWorld uncovered a vintage video featuring Broadway legend Patti LuPone in 'Love Cycle: A Soap Operetta', a 'mini-musical' made for PBS in 1984 which was never broadcast. The mini-musical also featured a full cast of up-and-coming stars of the 1980's, including: Walter Bobbie, Lonny Price, Martin Vidnovic, Priscilla Lopez and Ellen Foley. Capital Stage continues its ninth season, THE HOMEFRONT: Soul-Stirring plays, with a love story told with the sharp wit of celebrated playwright Tom Stoppard. The 1984 Tony Award-winning play THE REAL THING illuminates the mysteries of love and the complexities of marriage. Capital Stage's production will be directed by Janis Stevens and will run from tonight, January 22, 2014 through February 23, 2014, with a press opening on January 25.

Off-Broadway's award-winning Irish Repertory Theatre just announced the world premiere production of the new musical TRANSPORT. With book and lyrics by world-renowned Australian author Thomas Keneally (Schindler's List, the acclaimed book on which the Oscar-winning film is based) and music by Larry Kirwan (founder of the iconic New York City band Black 47), TRANSPORT follows the uneasy ocean voyage of Irish women who were sentenced and then exiled to the relatively uninhabited south coast of Australia in the mid-19th Century. TRANSPORT has direction and set design by three-time Tony Award-winning director and designer Tony Walton, and choreography by Barry McNabb (Irish Rep's FINIAN'S RAINBOW, STREETS OF NEW YORK). TRANSPORT will be performed February 7ththrough April 6th, 2014 on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street). The Press Opening is scheduled forFebruary 16th.
