Jonah Bokaer, who has been making artistic waves on the international dance circuit since he began choreographing almost ten years ago, will be seen both close-up and afar in these coming months: outdoors at the Avignon Festival in France (tonight, July 20-July 22, 24-26) and indoors at the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA (August 1-5) when he and Bolshoi Ballet star David Hallberg perform together in the world premiere of Bokaer's "CURTAIN."

A troupe of actors with a penchant for creating unexpected performances on stage will collaborate with an organization devoted to creating theater in unexpected locales as The Vacant Lot Theatre Company debuts, A Child's Drawing of a Monster, in a garage space re-imagined as a performance space by the nonprofit arts advocate, chashama. A selection of six abstract works by Brown University's head of playwrighting, Erik Ehn, A Child's Drawing of a Monster will open at Moe's Taxi, 26-15 Jackson Avenue, Long Island City (one block from Court Square subway stop on the 7, E, G and M lines), tonight, July 12, with additional shows on July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20 and 21. Performance times are 8 PM Wednesday through Saturdays and Sunday at 7 PM. Tickets are $18 USD.

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick today announced that their production of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will open at the London Palladium in June 2013 after a preview period. The new stage musical will be directed by Sam Mendes, with a book by David Greig and new songs from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

One of Russia's most famous actressses, Chulpan Khamatova, along with Bolshoi Theater soloist Andrei Merkuriev, will play for audiences in Boston with POOR LIZA, based on the novel by Nikolay Karamzin. This envelope-pushing choreographed theatrical performance was dreamt up by lauded choreographer Alla Sigalova and composer Leonid Desyatnikov, and produced by Russia's Theatre of Nations. Maestro Artist Management will present the performances in the US.

Closing Aurora's 20th season is the World Premiere of SALOMANIA, Aurora Theatre Company Artistic Director Tom Ross's first new play commission for the company, written and directed by award-winning Bay Area auteur Mark Jackson (Metamorphosis, Salome, Miss Julie). Workshopped and developed at Aurora in 2010, SALOMANIA features Madeline H.D. The Australian Ballet, celebrating its 50th-anniversary, will present two programs featuring four North American premieres at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center, today, June 12 through June 17, 2012. The company will return to NYC after more than a decade-long absence as part of its celebration. Both programs will be led by Music Director and Chief Conductor of The Australian Ballet, Nicolette Fraillon, with live orchestra.

Tickets go on sale today for Lincoln Center's 24th season of Midsummer Night Swing taking place Tuesdays through Saturdays, June 26-July 14. Swing's 15 dazzling nights of dancing, and one free daytime lesson for children, take place at the bandshell and elevated dance floor in Damrosch Park, on West 62nd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Midsummer Night Swing offers an array of dance music styles including salsa, swing, tango, rock 'n' roll, and bhangra.
