BootStrap Theater to Premiere 'ARCTIC REQUIEM' at Z Below This Fall

BootStrap Theater Foundation is pleased to announce the creative team and dates for the world premiere of "Arctic Requiem: The Story of Luke Cole and Kivalina" created by  Sharmon J. Hilfinger and Joan McMillen, directed by Tracy Ward. This multifaceted  theatrical production will run October 23 - November 15 at San Francisco's Z Below Theater 450 Florida Street with an Opening Night on Sunday, October 25, 5 p.m.

Transport Group has announced that casting has been completed for its upcoming revival of Once Upon a Mattress, which stars Jackie Hoffman (On the Town, Difficult People, Hairspray) as Princess Winnifred and John "Lypsinka"Epperson (Lypsinka's The Boxed Set, The Passion of the Crawford) as Queen Aggravain.  The production, which is directed by five-time Drama Desk Award nominee Jack Cummings III, features Jessica Fontana (Cinderella) as Lady Larken, David Greenspan (The Patsy) as The King, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music) as The Minstrel, Cory Lingner(On the Town) as The Jester, Zak Resnick (Piece of My Heart) as Sir Harry, Jay Rogers (Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly) as The Wizard, and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Things to Ruin) as Prince Dauntless, with Vivienne Cleary, Richard Costa, Michael De Souza, Tim Dolan, Jack Donahue, Amy Griffin, Sarah Killough, Kristen Michelle, Ali Reed,and Doug Shapiro.

The majority of Americans know Sarah Hyland as Haley, the super-hot oldest daughter of Phil and Claire Dunphey on ABC's hit comedy MODERN FAMILY. But, we theatre fans remember her as young Jackie Bouvier (who would grow to become a Kennedy) in the Tony-winning Original Broadway production of GREY GARDENS. Of course, the most astute amongst us will point out that she played Molly, the littlest orphan, in the 1999 TV movie version of ANNIE that starred Victor Garber, Audra McDonald, Kathy Bates, Alan Cumming, Krisitin Cenoweth, and more.

Cultural partners Jacob's Pillow Dance and MASS MoCA present two innovative and independent New York-based contemporary dance artists, Katie Workum and Kimberly Bartosik, in a one-night-only engagement, October 24 at 8pm at the Hunter Center. Noted for her 'serious and ambitious' work by Gia Kourlas of The New York Times, Katie Workum brings her new work Black Lakes, full of improvisation, risk, and humor. The second half of the program features New York Dance and Performance ('Bessie') Award winner Kimberly Bartosik's Ecsteriority4 (Part 2), which constructs a landscape of power and desire to explore violence in American culture today. Co-presentations by Jacob's Pillow and MASS MoCA are made possible by the Irene Hunter Fund for Dance.

Composer Anna Clyne to Hold Residency with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra This Season

Baltimore, MD (September 18, 2015) -- The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) today announced a residency during the 2015-16 season with composer Anna Clyne. The residency will be comprised of three visits with the Orchestra, collaborative education activities with Baltimore City students, participation in a V-log on BSOMusic.org, a visit to an OrchKids school site, a collaboration with the Baltimore Museum of Art, and two performances of her orchestral music, culminating in the world premiere of a new work, commissioned by Bonnie McElveen-Hunter for the BSO and Music Director Marin Alsop in honor of Baltimore philanthropists Robert E. Meyerhoff and Rheda Becker. Clyne, 35, known for her collaborations with cutting edge visual artists, dancers, and artists of multiple genres, will compose a piece for full orchestra that will be inspired by the contemporary art collection at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The work will have its world premiere at The Music Center at Strathmore on May 7, 2016 and will be performed at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on May 8, 2016.

The Old Globe opens its 2015-2016 Season with IN YOUR ARMS, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's The King and I and South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia).
