Hello from London, Cold and dark though it is - theatre here and especially musicals and serious drama are enjoying a surge of popularity. This has been put down to the sheer RANGE of shows on offer. Take where i am now at the Hampstead Theatre. Mike Leigh and David Hare are favourites here and tonights show is no exception at this cutting edge building and stage. Rehearsals on the eve of opening night are always a rush and a panic. But under cool headed Lucy Bailey the revival of Noel Coward's 'Private Lives' is proving to be a real hit with cast and critics alike. Broadway World caught up with her in a break from rehearsals after she'd sent via MMS, some photos of the actors going through their paces.

Hamingson) announced that TAKING OVER, the first new solo play by OBIE Award winner Danny Hoch in 10 years, has been extended through Sunday, December 21 due to popular demand. Directed by Tony Taccone, TAKING OVER opened on Sunday, November 23 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, December 14.

Producer Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group and co-producers Tulchin/Bartner/Jenkins, Bill Kenwright, Northwater Entertainment, Darren Bagert, and Tom Gregory announced the complete cast and design team for the new Broadway production of the greatest musical comedy GUYS AND DOLLS. The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Mara Manus) announced that KICKING A DEAD HORSE, a new play written and directed by Pulitzer Prize winner Sam Shepard and featuring Tony Award nominee Stephen Rea, has extended its run by two weeks. Following a sold-out run at Ireland's Abbey Theatre, it will preview at The Public on Wednesday, June 25 and run through Sunday, August 10 with an official press opening on Monday, July 14 at 7 PM.

Today it was announced that GUYS AND DOLLS will open on Broadway for the first time in 17 years in the spring of 2009 at a Nederlander Theatre to be announced. With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, this production is the first joint Broadway project by director Des McAnuff and Sergio Trujillo since Jersey Boys.
