The Public Theater Announces Casting for GATZ

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced complete casting today for the return of GATZ, the critically lauded theatrical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. Created and performed by Elevator Repair Service, this award-winning theatrical event, directed by John Collins and featuring Scott Shepherd as Nick, will begin previews on Wednesday, March 14 and run through Sunday, May 6 for 28 performances only in the Newman Theater. Single tickets, beginning at $160, are on sale now.

BILLY ELLIOT to Perform at National Dance Week, 6/17

Now in its 7th year, National Dance Week-NYC (NDW-NYC), a yearly festival that advocates dance conditioning and wellness, will offer more than 100 FREE dance, fitness and wellness classes over the course of 10 days, starting June 17, 2011. The festival will commence with a flash mob in Union Square followed by a kickoff event at Union Bar on Wednesday, June 15. A culminating performance to celebrate NYC arts will take place at Salvatore Capezio Theater at Peridance on Sunday, June 26 and will feature presentations by American Tap Dance Foundation: Tap City Youth Ensemble, Aveia, Ballet Noir, Billy Elliot the Musical, COBU, Creative Outlet Dance Theatre of Brooklyn, Flamenco con Magdalena, The Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, and Marie-Christine Giordano Dance.

Public Theater Announces Shakespeare Salon Series, 5/18 & 25

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Interim Executive Director Joey Parnes) will continue its popular Shakespeare Salon Series this May. Following the success of last year's events, The Shakespeare Salon returns for two evenings this spring, with discussions featuring 2011 Shakespeare in the Park Directors Daniel Sullivan and David Esbjornson and moderated by Shakespeare Initiative Director Barry Edelstein. The Shakespeare Salons will be held on Wednesday, May 18 and Wednesday, May 25 at 6:30 p.m. at BONDST Restaurant (6 Bond Street). Tickets are $25 and include a complimentary glass of wine. Tickets are on sale now to Public Theater Members and will go on sale to the general public on Thursday, April 28.

Following the success of last summer's Shakespeare in the Park productions of The Merchant of Venice and The Winter's Tale, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) will once again stage two Shakespeare plays in repertory, running June 6 through July 31 at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Daniel Sullivan, who recently directed Twelfth Night and The Merchant of Venice in the Park, will direct ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL and David Esbjornson, who directed Much Ado About Nothing in the Park, will direct MEASURE FOR MEASURE.
